MK Kaushik appointed as Manager High Performance (Central Zone)

New Delhi, 27 October 2014:  Olympian Maharaj Krishan Kaushik (MK Kaushik) has been appointed as the Manager, High Performance (Central Zone) by Hockey India.

Kaushik, who was the coach of the Indian Men Hockey team that won Gold medal at the recently concluded 17th Asian Games 2014 in Incheon, South Korea will be seen in a new role from 1 November 2014.

Kaushik as the Manager, High Performance will soon start monitoring all domestic activities in the central zone consisting of Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Odisha, Bihar, Jharkhand, Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand.

MK Kaushik was the member of the 1980 Olympics Gold Medal winning Indian Men Hockey team, had also coached both the Indian men and women teams. Under his coaching, India men team won their last major international tournament – the 1998 Asian Games in Bangkok. In the same year, he received the prestigious Arjuna Award. S S Grewal will be Manager High Performance (North Zone)

New Delhi, 24 July 2014: Taking forward the plan of developing hockey at grassroots level in the country, Hockey India today announced the appointment of former coach Sukhvir Singh Grewal as the Manager, High Performance (North Zone).

Sukhvir Singh Grewal, who represented India in 1978 World Cup, will take charge on 1 August 2014. Earlier Hockey India also had appointed V Baskaran for the South Zone, who has already taken the charge from this month.

The North Zone comprises of Punjab, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu & Kashmir, Chandigarh, Rajasthan and Delhi, which produced many world class players for India contributing towards the reach hockey history of the country.

This move of having separate managers high performance for North (Grewal), South (Baskaran), Central, East, West zones by Hockey India will further ensure its commitment towards identifying, developing and giving such players an international platform to showcase their skills in the game of hockey. V Baskaran appointed as Manager, High Performance (South Zone) Hockey India

New Delhi, 18th June 2014: With an aim to find fresh talents in the country and to benefit the game at all levels, Hockey India today announced the appointment of Olympic Gold Medalist V Baskaran as the Manager, High Performance (South Zone) Hockey India.

He was recently appointed as coach to assist current chief coach Terry Walsh before FIH World League Finals in Delhi in January 2014, and now he will be working under Director High Performance Roelant Oltmans. Baskaran was also the coach of Bhopal Badshahs in World Series Hockey 2012, a league with eight city franchises supported by Hockey India’s rival body Indian Hockey Federation .

In the new set-up, Former coach of the Senior Men Hockey Team, V Baskaran will be working in the direction of implementing the Hockey India development programme as part of overall High Performance programme for men and women hockey at the grassroots level including school, college and district level hockey in the South Zone of the country. Hockey India announces High Performance and Development Committee for 2013-14

New Delhi, 8 April 2013: Hockey India announced its High Performance and Development Committee for 2013-14. The 15 member committee will be headed by Dr Narinder Batra (Secretary General of Hockey India) and Roelant Oltmans (High Performance Director, Hockey India) will be the Vice-Chairman.

New Delhi, 22 February 2013: The seven-day FIH-Hockey India High Performance Coaching Course concluded today at New Delhi. Total 25 coaches from across the country participated in the second part of this course conducted by FIH Master Coach Mr. Tayyab Ikram and FIH Grade 1 Coach Siegfried Aikman from 16 to 22 February 2013.

FIH – HI High Performance Coaching Course from 16 February in New Delhi

New Delhi, 13 February 2013: As part of the Hero Hockey World League Round 2 tournament in New Delhi, the FIH and Hockey India will hold a joint High Performance Coaching Course from February 16-22.

The course is the second part of a Coaching Education program for elite coaches who aspire to be high performance coaches. It aims to identify coaches from all areas of India and provide them with advanced coaching tools. Thirty coaches across India will be participating in the course. The first course was held in Lucknow in September 2012.
