The trophy & Mascot of Hero Hockey India League 2014 were unveiled today in New Delhi. The mascot of Hero HIL is named “Gaurav” (meaning – Pride) has been introduced at the trophy unveiling ceremony.

The trophy of Hero HIL 2014, looks stunning masterpiece of trophy seems like a crown embedded with Swarovski at top and bottom with two beautiful golden Hockey Sticks on both the sides. Hero Hockey India League (HIL) will kickstart with a gala opening ceremony on 7 pm at on 25th January at Mohali.This year, the league has six franchises and will be played in across Delhi, Mumbai, Mohali, Bhubaneswar, Ranchi and Lucknow over a period of almost four weeks.

The opening ceremony Hero HIL 2014 will be witnessed by the spectators at the stadium and TV viewers will be able to catch it LIVE on Star Sports. The evening divided into 9 segments will see many performances unfolding in front of them, hence giving the audience and spectators 30 minutes of absolute entertainment.
The winning team of this edition, which will start off with this gala ceremony, will take home a cash prize of Rs. 2.5cr, the runners-up team will be richer by Rs.1.25cr and the team placed at the 3rd position will take away Rs.75lacs. The Player of the Tournament will be presented with cash prize of Rs. 25 lacs, while the player with the maximum goals will get the Airtel Maximum goals award and Rs. 10 lacs cash prize. The upcoming player will be awarded with the Ponty Chadha Upcoming Player of the Tournament Award and cash prize of Rs. 20 lacs. Ireland’s Goal Keeper David Harte has been selected by the Dabur Mumbai Magicians for the Hero Hockey India League. Hero HIL is entering its second season and will begin on January 23rd culminating into the finals on February 23rd 2014.
The auction for this season included 154 players from around the world of which 49 were picked up by the six franchises, players came from Australia, New Zealand, Spain, Argentina, Ireland, England, South Africa and India with a total spend of USD 1.37 million. Nine more Kookaburras and two more Black Sticks have been picked up by the six franchises of the Hero Hockey India League (HHIL) in the closed bid for the second season of the sport’s showpiece league. In all, it brings the number of Kookaburras competing in the Hockey India League to 24 and Black Sticks to just 4.
Trent Mitton (Perth, WA), Kiel Brown (Toowoomba, QLD), Jason Wilson (Kingscliff, QLD), Russell Ford (Eltham VIC), Glenn Simpson (Eltham, VIC), Aran Zalewski (Margaret River, WA), Tristan White (Wollongong, NSW), Tristan Clemons (Bunbury, WA) and Jake Whetton (Brisbane, QLD) went for a total of $317,000 in the weekend’s bidding while Black Sticks Ryan Archibald and Steven Edwards are two Black Sticks who are picked up for a total of $96,000.
