8 June 2013: Delhi entered the quarter-finals of the 3rd Hockey India Junior Men National Championship played at Moti Lal Nehru Sports Complex, Rai in Sonepat on Saturday.
Delhi registered a second consecutive win in Pool-D, as they defeated Andhra Pradesh 4-1. After conceding an early goal in the first half, Delhi came from behind and scored four goals in the other half. Turning point came in the match when Jugraj Singh scored the opening goal for Delhi in the 36th minute after which Delhi scored another three goals. 8 May 2013: Air India, Haryana, Punjab and Karnataka entered the semi-finals of the 3rd Hockey India Senior Men National Championship 2013.
In the semi-finals to be played on Sunday 9 June 2013, last year’s runners-up Air India take on Haryana while Defending Champion Punjab will clash with Karnataka.
Last year’s runners-up Air India scored a hard-fought 5-4 win against Railways to win the first quarter-final match played at Major Dhyan Chand Polygrass Hockey Stadium, Pimpri in Pune today. 7 June 2013: Madhya Pradesh Hockey Academy became the fourth team to qualify for the quarter-finals of the 3rd Hockey India Junior Men National Championship being played at Moti Lal Nehru Sports Complex, Rai in Sonepat (Haryana).
Madhya Pradesh Hockey Academy defeated Bihar 11-1 in their last league match of Pool G to join hosts Haryana, Punjab and SAI in quarter-finals. Madhya Pradesh scored through Mohammad Nizamuddin (4 min), Izhar Qureshi (1, 9, 36 min), Sumit Patel (25 min), Mohammad Umar (27 min), Amir Shafique (33 min), Abhay Yadav (56 min), Nicky Kaushal (63, 68 min) and Arjun Sharma (64 min) while Bihar’s only reply came from Raushav Kumar (61 min) . 7 June 2013: Karnataka reached the quarter-finals of the 3rd Hockey India Senior Men National Championship with a 4-2 win over Services Sports Control Board in their concluding league match of Pool C, the Nationals are underway in Pune.
Air India will face Indian Railways, Haryana will lock horns with neighbours Chandigarh in two quarter-finals which will be played on 8th June at Major Dhyan Chand Polygrass Hockey Stadium, Pimpri in Pune. While Punjab and Karnataka will face Jharkhand and Manipur respectively at Shiv Chhatrapati Shivaji Sports Complex on the same day. Continue reading →
6 June 2013: Hosts Haryana, Punjab and Sports Authority of India (SAI) won respectively matches on 4th day of Junior Men’s Hockey Nationals being played at Moti Lal Nehru Sports Complex, Rai in Sonepat. These are the 1st set of the teams of who have qualified for the knock out stage (quarter-finals) of the tournament i.e. 3rd Hockey India Junior Men National Championship 2013.
Parvinder Singh and Gurjant Singh scored twice each as Punjab defeated Jharkhand 7-2 in their last league match of Pool A. Punjab scored through Harsahib Singh (2 min), Parvinder Singh (5, 67 min), Gurjant Singh (11, 15 min), Lovepreet Singh (17 min) and Ajit Pandit (64 min) while Mangra Bhengra (37 min) and Sumanta Hemrom (48 min) scored for Jharkhand. 4 June 2013: Punjab registered their second consecutive win, as they defeated Mumbai Hockey Association 3-2 in their Pool A league match of the 3rd Hockey India Junior Men National Championship 2013 played at Motilal Nehru School of Sports in Rai, Sonepat on Tuesday.
