Day 2 at the Senior Women Nationals at Bhopal

14 March 2014: On the 2nd day of the 4th Hockey India Senior Women National Championship (A-Division), Vidarbha Hockey Association rain 11 goals on team Goa in Pool A, while Himachal Pradesh crushed Jammu & Kashmir 12-0, Rajasthan beat Puducherry 6-0 and Assam edged past Bengal 1-0.

After Captain Roshni Kupale scored the first goal for her team, Vidarbha Hockey Association, in the 16th minute it was Sarika Malkhede who scored a hat-trick goal. While 2 goals came before the end of 1st half right after the start of 2nd half she scored her third goal for her team.

Post that it was Sarita Malkhede who went on to score a hat-trick goal which she delivered within 6 minutes and came in the 43rd, 47th and 48th minute. After that it was again Sarika Malkhede who added another 2 goals to tally in the 53rd and 62nd minute. This helped Vidarbha Hockey Association take an easy win over Goa. Continue reading →

Namdhari and Mumbai on winning spree in Sr Nationals (B Division)

9 March 2014: Namdhari XI and Mumbai registered their third consecutive victories on the day 11 of the 4th Hockey India Senior Men National Championship 2014 (Division B) being played at Major Dhyan Chand Hockey Stadium in Lucknow.

In a Pool A match between Namdhari XI and Bihar, Karandeep Singh Dhillon of Namdhari alone pocketed 4 goals for the team at 8th, 16th, 25th and 64th minute of the game followed by Baljot Singh’s two goals at 15th and 47th minute. Naveen Minz, Bhim Kumar and Mangra Bhengra of Bihar only managed to strike one goal each at 12th, 40th and 51st minute of the game. Day 10 at Sr Men Nationals 2014 (B Division) at Lucknow

8 March 2014: Teams of Pool A saw the clash of Rajasthan and Gujarat where the former won the match by 3-2 and with this win Rajasthan earned their first 3 points at Division B of the 4th Hockey India Senior Men National Championship 2014 being played at Major Dhyan Chand Hockey Stadium in Lucknow today.

Namdhari XI starts Sr Nationals Campaign with big Win

7 March 2014: Namdhari XI, Bihar, Mumbai and Uttarakhand won their respective matches on the day-9 of the 4th Hockey India Senior Men National Championship 2014 (Division B) being played at Major Dhyan Chand Hockey Stadium in Lucknow.

In Pool A, Namdhari XI registered an easy win against Gujarat by leaving them behind with a score of 9-0 on board. Namdhari XI claimed their first win in their very first match of the pool leaving Gujarat with yet another loss. Namdhari XI went all out from the very beginning of the match, where Bhagat Singh Dhillon scored two goals at 5th and the 15th minute of the game by converting both the penalty corners followed by the field goals by Santa Singh at 27thminute and Captain Kuldeep Singh at 29th minute taking the score to 4-0 in the first half of the game. Bihar, UK, SSB and HP start Hockey Nationals on Winning Note

Bihar, Uttarakhand, Sashastra Seema Bal and Himachal Pradesh from Pool A and B started their 4th Hockey India Senior Men National Championship 2014 (Division B) campaign on winning note at Major Dhyan Chand Hockey Stadium in Lucknow.

The first match played between Bihar and Gujarat witnessed Bihar going all out from the very start. Though, Gujarat’s Krushsingh Zala scored the very first goal of the game at the 9th minute, it was Bihar’s Md Reyazuddin, Naveen Minz and Mangra Bhengra who in return scored at the 11th, 14th and 21st minute respectively, to take the lead by 3-1 in the first half of the match. Gujarat played a defensive game in the second half of the game but couldn’t stop Bihar’s Naveen Minz from scoring another goal at 40th minute and wrapping the game at 4 goals to 1. Junior Women’s Hockey National Championship Gets Underway at Mysore

5th March 2014: The 4th edition of the Hockey India Junior Women National Championship 2014 underway in Mysore, Karnataka and will conclude on 23rd March 2014.

The tournament will see 32 teams competing in two phases i.e. 16 teams in each of the Division A and B. The Division B of the championship started today i.e. 5th March and will conclude on 13 March 2014 while Division A will be played from 15- 23 March 2014.

This edition will see two new teams including Hockey Gangpur- Odisha and Vidarbha Hockey Association at the newly laid Astro Turf at Chamundi Stadium, Nazarabad, Mysore.

After a heavy rain on Tuesday, it was Manipur women, who rained 24 goals against Tripura. For Manipur it was Sarita Devi who led from the front and the scored as many as nine goals in a Pool A match on the first of the tournament. Continue reading →
