Korea beat Black Sticks Men 2-0 at Pukekohe

The Black Sticks Men have lost 2-0 to Korea at Counties Manukau Hockey in Pukekohe this afternoon, breaking the series deadlock in the third game of the six-test series.

Korea were the more dominant side throughout the 70 minutes and found the net twice in the second half, despite a spirited defensive effort from the Kiwis.

Black Sticks Men’s Squad Bolstered for Korea Series, George Muir to Debut

April 24th, 2013: Several familiar faces and one debutant have been named in a strengthened Black Sticks Men’s series squad ahead of next month’s test series against Korea in Auckland.

The six-game series will be played from 14th-22nd May with two games at Rangitoto College, two at the Southern Hockey Turf in Papatoetoe and two at Counties Manukau.

Head coach Colin Batch today named his 23-man squad with five additional players joining the same squad of 18 which played at the Azlan Shah Cup in March.

London Olympians Phil Burrows, Shea McAleese and Nick Haig return to the side along with young guns James Coughlan and George Muir.

Batch said the tests against Korea are a chance to continue the growth of the Kiwi side with selections under the microscope for the World League Semi-Finals in June. Continue reading →
