India won Silver and Hearts in London, FIH Clarifies decision #HCT2016

In a dramatic end to a successful tournament, India won silver medal and hearts of hockey fans throughout. India lost in the shootout to Australia after ending the game 0-0 at regulation time in their maiden appearance in the final of Hockey Champions Trophy 2016 in London. Earlier in the day, Germany edged past Great Britain to win the bronze medal thanks to a solitary strike from tournament top scorer Marco Miltkau.

India entered the tournament as underdogs and using tournament for preparations of Rio Olympics and started on high note with holding Olympic Germany for 3-3 draw and defeated hosts Great Britain by 2-1 for first time in last 4 decade at their home soil. India had heart break when they lost to Belgium by 2-1 and then came back in tournament with win against Korea by 2-1 and commendable performance against Australia in their last pool game (2-4). India jumps to 6th place in Latest FIH World Ranking, Top 3 are same

  • World Rankings updated following conclusion of Continental Championships
    Australia men and Netherlands women remain top
  • Venezuela men and Dominican Republic women biggest risers, India men climb 2 spots to 6th place

The International Hockey Federation (FIH) released the latest World Rankings earlier today following the conclusion of all five Continental Championships. Men’s World Cup holders Australia and women’s Olympic and World champions Netherlands remain at the top of the FIH World Rankings.

This weekend, Unibet EuroHockey Championships concluded at Lee Valley Hockey and Tennis Centre, Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, London. Hosts England won the title in women’s category, and the Netherlands outclassed Germany to win men’s competition.

HIL Auction on 17th Sept: No team from South India, 135 Indians and 142 Foriegners in Fray

Hockey India League (HIL) is conducting a fresh auction of players for the upcoming season of the League on September 17 at New Delhi. The six franchisee will bid for players from India, Australia, New Zealand, Canada, USA, England, South Africa, Netherlands, Germany, Belgium, Scotland, Malaysia, Japan and Korea to complete their teams.
