27 March 2014: On the day-4 of the 4th Hockey India Junior Men National Championship 2014 (Division B) being played at M R Stadium Egmore and YMCA Stadium in Chennai, Services Sports Promotion Board, Steel Plant Sports Board and Manipur booked their places in semi-finals to be played this weekend.

Services Sports Promotion Board went on to register their fourth consecutive win to qualify for final four from Pool C while Bengal Hockey Association playing its second match continued with its winning streak by beating Gujarat. 26 March 2014: Services Sports Promotion Board continued their winning spree as they won 3rd consecutive match while many other teams registered their 1st wins on day-3 of the 4th Hockey India Junior Men National Championship 2014 (Division B) being played at Mayor Radhakrishnan Stadium Egmore and YMCA Stadium in Chennai.

In a Pool C match, Services Sports Control Board showered a total of 10 goals from the very 5th minute of the game till the 67th minute as Goa stood tranquilized and witnessed the destruction. The opening goal for the Services Sports Control Board came from Jitender in the 5th minute of the game itself. The destruction was channeled further with Navpreet Singh scoring three goals in the 7th, 17th and 67th minute followed by another three through Ramandeep in the 21st, 37th and 59th minute of the game. 25 March 2014: Service Sports Control Board defeated Assam 7-0 and Manipur beat Tripura 9-3 to register their 2nd consecutive win in the 4th Hockey India Junior Men National Championship 2014 (Division B) on day 2. In the other matches Steel Plant Sports Board, Bihar and Vidarbha Hockey Association won their respective matches today, played at M R Stadium Egmore and YMCA Stadium in Chennai, Tamil Nadu.

In Pool C match, Services Sports Control Board defeated Assam by 7-0. Services Sports Control Board dominated the first half and Naveen Minz scored two goals in quick succession in 16th and 23rd minute of the match. Hockey Assam started in good rhythm in the second half and defended very well but failed to score any goal. Services Sports Control Board came back well and scored 5 more goals in 51st, 58th, 61st, 63rd and 68th minute by Jitender, Ramandeep, Mangra Bhengra and Anup Minj and won the match by 7-0. 24 March 2014: The 4th Hockey India junior Men National Championship 2014 (Division B) got underway in Chennai at M R Stadium Egmore and YMCA Stadium today.
Services Sports Control Board, Bengal Hockey Association, Hockey Gangpur-Odisha, Manipur and Tripura won their respective matches on the opening day, while Kerala and Goa played a 3-3 draw.
In Pool A match, Hockey Gangpur- Odisha played a strong game throughout the match and gained confidence in the first half itself, when Deepak Lakra scored a goal in the seventh minute of the game. In the next six minutes, Sudeep Kerketta scored another goal for the team, followed by few more excellent strikes from other players as well. Continue reading →
Chennai, 22 September 2013: Indian Oil Corporation (IOCL) defeated Indian Overseas Bank (IOB) 6-4 to win the 88th MCC Murugappa Hockey Tournament at Mayor Radhakrishnan Hockey Stadium in Egmore, Chennai.

In the final between IOCL and IOB, the first half saw the co-champions of last edition, stacking up goals. After the half-time break, Indian Overseas Bank fought back to score 4 goals. But IOC (which was the joint winner last year) consolidated its dominance of the match, to emerge the Champions of this 88th edition of the tournament. Continue reading →
