Spectacular start to Hero Hockey India League; Delhi Waveriders launch campaign with a victory

New Delhi, 14 January 2013: Hosts Delhi Waveriders launched their campaign in the Hero Hockey India League with a comfortable 2-1 victory over Jaypee Punjab Warriors at the Major Dhyanchand National stadium here on Monday.

Germany’s Oskar Deecke (14th min) and Gurwinder Singh Chandi (22nd) found the net for the winners while Australian Keiran Govers (42nd) scored the consolation goal for the visitors.

Germans Fuerste, Korn, Deecke and Nicolas feature in Hockey India League Players’ Auction

NEW DELHI, October 23: The vastly successful midfielders Mortiz Fuerste and Oliver Korn are among the players from Germany, 2008 and 2012 Olympic champions, who have signed up for the Players’ Auction to be held next month in the run up to the six-team Hockey India League that will begin on 5 January 2012.

Hockey India League LogoStriker Deecke Oskar and goal-keeper Jacobi Nicolas, both members of the 2012 Olympic gold medal winning team, are the other prominent names from Germany. Hockey India Secretary-General and Hockey India League Chairman Dr Narinder Batra said the eagerness of world class players to showcase their skills was a confirmation that Hockey India League is becoming a sought-after event.
