Maharashtra played out a tough 3-3 draw against Delhi at the Major Dhyan Chand Hockey Stadium in Lucknow on day-7 of the 4th Hockey India Senior Men National Championship 2014 (Division B) to secure themselves a place in semi finals.
Post the match both Maharashtra and Chhattisgarh are placed with 11 points each on the table in Pool D. But Maharashta piped Chhattisgarh in points table on the basis of goal difference to qualify for the semi-finals. While Hockey Gangpur – Odisha, having 15 points in their kitty, have entered the semi-finals of the 4th Hockey India Senior Men National Championship from Pool ‘C’.

7 June 2013: Madhya Pradesh Hockey Academy became the fourth team to qualify for the quarter-finals of the 3rd Hockey India Junior Men National Championship being played at Moti Lal Nehru Sports Complex, Rai in Sonepat (Haryana).
Madhya Pradesh Hockey Academy defeated Bihar 11-1 in their last league match of Pool G to join hosts Haryana, Punjab and SAI in quarter-finals. 6 June 2013: Defending champions Punjab along with Manipur and Jharkhand has entered the Quarter-Finals of the 3rd Hockey India Senior Men National Championship 2013 being played in Pune. Chandigarh, Railways, Haryana and Air India are the other teams who have already qualified for the Quarter-finals.
Deepak Thakur scored 5 goals for Punjab
Riding on form of former Indian captain Deepak Thakur, who scored 5 goals, Punjab defeated Delhi 9-2 in their last league match of Pool A to emerge pool toppers.
In addition to 5 goals of Deepak for unbeatable Punjab, Vikramjit Singh scored thrice while Davinder Pal Singh found the target once. Pawan Singh Chauhan and Avtar Singh Mann scored a goal each for Delhi to reduce the margin to 9-2.
In Pool C, Karnataka registered their third consecutive win, as they defeated Bihar 8-1. Karnataka scored through S K Uthappa (11 min), Nikkin Thimmaiah (22 min), S K Chingappa (29, 31 min), M K Muddappa (39 min), Vickram Kant (43 min), B S Bidappa (51 min) and M G Poonacha (52 min) while Bihar’s only reply came from Satnam Singh (56 min).
