After leading the four-match Test Series by 1-0, India edged past Japan by 2-1 in the third match and won the series by 2-0. Penalty corner specialist VR Raghunath converted another corner with an ease whereas Akashdeep Singh displayed a brilliant stick-work when he scored the second goal for his team. The Indian team arrived at noon after concluding a nine-day preparatory camp in New Delhi. Post finishing at 3rd position in the 24th Sultan Azlan Shah Cup, the team is looking for a series win against FIH Rank 16 Japan. For India, the Test series will be in preparation for the upcoming FINTRO Hockey World League Semi-Final in Antwerp, Belgium, scheduled in June. The Indian Men team for the upcoming India Japan Series was announced today. The 4 match series scheduled in Bhubaneswar from 3-9 May 2015 and will be live on DD Sports. Indian squad of 24 players include youngsters like Lalit Upadhyay, Pardeep Mor, Harmanpreet Singh. Following a stellar performance in Railway’s gold medal at Hockey Nationals 2015, Yuvraj Walmiki will also be seen in the taking on Japan at Kalinga Stadium in Bhubaneswar.
Speaking with this website, young midfielder Pardeep Mor from Haryana seemed excited about his inclusion in the team and he said is ready to grab the opportunity with both hands.
