Haryana face Railways in the final of Women’s Hockey Nationals (India)

BHOPAL, Oct 22: Defending champion Railways will face  Haryana in the final of 2nd Hockey India Senior Women National Championship at Aish Bagh Hockey Stadium, Bhopal on Tuesday at 6:30PM.

Haryana defeated MPHA 3-0 in the second semifinal of the tournament to set up summit clash against defending champions Indian Railways. Reena Devi opened scoring for Haryana in the 14th minute on a penalty corner to earn 1-0 lead for her team, which stood till lemon break. Continue reading →

Indian Railways defeated Jharkhand 7-2 to reach the final of Women’s Hockey Nationals

BHOPAL, Oct 22: Defending champion Railways scored a comprehensive 7-2 win over Jharkhand to enter the final of 2nd Hockey India Senior Women National Championship at Aish Bagh Hockey Stadium, Bhopal on Monday.

Railways looked the better drilled outfit and showed a lot of character and composure through the match, It started well and got breakthrough in the second minute through a field goal scored by skipper Jaspreet Kaur. Jharkhand, Railways, MPHA & Haryana enter Semi-finals of Women’s Hockey Nationals

Bhopal, October 21: Jharkhand scored a hard fought 1-0 win against Odisha to enter the semi-finals of 2ndHockey India Senior Women National Championship at Aish Bagh Hockey Stadium, Bhopal on Sunday morning.

After a goalless half, Jharkhand scored through Sushila Lakra in the 47th minute.

In another quarter-final match MPHA beat Punjab 7-6 via penalty shoot-out to book their berth in the semi-finals.

In the semi-finals Railways will face Jharkhand while Haryana will take on Madhya Pradesh Hockey Academy.

Scoring five goals in each half, defending champions Indian Railways defeated Uttar Pradesh 10-1 to become the first team to enter the semi-finals. Continue reading →

Haryana, Punjab, Uttar Pradesh and Jharkhand complete Quarter-finals line-up of Women’s Hockey Nationals

Bhopal, October 19: Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Punjab and Jharkhand completed the quarter-final line-up with emphatic victories in the concluding league matches of 2nd Hockey India Senior Women National Championship, Bhopal on Friday.

The quarter-final line-up is holders Railways vs Uttar Pradesh (7am), Haryana vs Chandigarh (9:30 am), Odisha vs Jharkhand (5 pm) and Madhya Pradesh Hockey Academy vs Punjab (7:30 pm). All the four matches will be played on Sunday at Aish Bagh Hockey Stadium. Continue reading →

Schedule of 2nd Hockey India Senior Women National Championship, Bhopal

NEW DELHI, October 13:  Defending champion Indian Railways has been drawn in Group A along with Maharashtra and Kerala in the 2nd Hockey India Senior Women National Championship to be held in Bhopal from October 14 to 23.

Hockey India LogoAs many as 27 Hockey India’s member units have confirmed their participation in the Championship which will be played on a league cum knockout basis on the artificial pitches of AishBagh Hockey Stadium and Dhyan Chand Hockey Ground near Mayur Park.

The inaugural match shall be played between Odisha and Tamil Nadu in Pool C on October 14.

Hockey India Selectors, Government Observer and Chief Coach Neil Hawgood will watch the performance of players to select the probables for future coaching camps regarding preparations for World League Round- 2 to be held in New Delhi from February 18- 24 next year. Continue reading →

Punjab Enter Quarter-Finals of Men’s Senior National Championship (India), Manipur on Course

Bangalore, Sept 27: Gurjinder Singh and Akashdeep Singh scored thrice each as Punjab raced to a 7-2 win against the Services in their concluding pool C league game and entered the quarter-finals of Hockey India’s Second Senior National Men’s Hockey Championship, here on Thursday.

Earlier in morning session, Manipur pulled off a fine 9-3 win against fancied Bihar in a Pool H to strengthen their chance for Knock-Out stage. Now, Manipur need a draw in their Next Match against Combined Universities, to be played tomorrow (28th Sept) at 2:30 PM. After today’s 14-0 win against Andaman & Nicobar and draw against Bihar, Combined need to win the match against Manipur to be in Quarters.

In Pool F, Uttar Pradesh also recorded their second win when they hammered Tripura 24-0 with Chandan Singh and Mohd Amir Khan topping the scorers list with seven goals apiece. Continue reading →
