Chandigarh, Services and CAG won in Lucknow Nationals (A-Division)

14 March 2014: On the opening day for Pool A and Pool B matches of the 4th Hockey India Senior Men National Championship 2014 (Division A) being played at Major Dhyan Chand Hockey Stadium in Lucknow, Chandigarh Olympic Association, Services Sports Control Board and Comptroller & Auditor General of India, all registered their maiden win in their respective matches.

Chandigarh Olympic Association played an excellent match against Andhra Pradesh and defeated them with 4-2 in Pool A. Chandigarh Olympic Association was on a full throttle in the first half of the match as they dominated with a 2-0 lead till half time. Chandigarh’s Tarandeep Singh started off with the goal scoring spree for the team in the 9th minute of the game, followed by Navdeep Singh’s two goals in the 20th and 39th minute and Lakhwinder singh in the 51st minute. Sr Women Nationals Hockey (B-Division) Underway in Bhopal

13 March 2014: Assam defeated Goa 16-0 in the first match of the 4th Hockey India Senior Women National Championship 2014 (Division B), which got underway in Bhopal today. In the other matches of the day, Delhi defeated Gujarat by 15-0, while Bengal and Himachal Pradesh also started the tournament on winning note.

Assam started putting the pressure right from the third minute of the game when Moully Yadav scored the first goal against Goa. Moully went on to score a total of four goals in the match and thereby helped the team to take the lead by a huge difference of 16-0.  The other key scorers from Assam were Pooja Choudhary, Dolly Yadav and Shikha Singh. FCI beat Haryana 4-1 at the Sr Nationals (A Division)

12 March 2014: Food Corporation of India (FCI) stunned Haryana by 4-1, Uttar Pradesh and Railways registered their 2nd wins while Bhopal started on winning note on the Day-2 of the 4th Hockey India Senior Men National Championship 2014 (Division A) beign played at Major Dhyan Chand Hockey Stadium in Lucknow.

Food Corporation of India made an impressive comeback on the second day after losing their first match against Railways yesterday and registered their very first win in the championship as they defeated Haryana by an inspiring 4-1 on board in Pool D. FCI was in no mood to settle down or give away goals to their opponent. The dominating attitude was visible from the very first half of the match as the Food Corporation of India led by 3-0 with Ganendrajit Ningomban, Sunil and Vikram striking a goal each in the 6th, 18th and 22nd minute of the first half, respectively. Hosts UP start Sr Hockey Nationals on Winning Note

11 March 2014: Hosts Uttar Pradesh opened their account on a winning note by defeating Odisha 5-2 on the opening day of the 4th Hockey India Senior Men National Championship 2014 (Division A) played at Major Dhyan Chand Hockey Stadium in Lucknow.

In other matches of the day, Jharkhand and Indian Railways defeated their respective opponents Bhopal and Food Corporation of India by the same scorelines of 3-0. While Tamil Nadu got walk over as Andaman & Nicobar failed to show up in Pool D.

Uttar Pradesh dominated the first half of the game by 2-0 with one field goal by Amir Khan in the 10th minute and Diwakar Ram converting a penalty corner in the 33rd minute of the game. Continue reading →

Delhi in Quarters of Junior Men’s Hockey Nationals 2013

8 June 2013: Delhi entered the quarter-finals of the 3rd Hockey India Junior Men National Championship played at Moti Lal Nehru Sports Complex, Rai in Sonepat on Saturday.

Delhi registered a second consecutive win in Pool-D, as they defeated Andhra Pradesh 4-1. After conceding an early goal in the first half, Delhi came from behind and scored four goals in the other half. Turning point came in the match when Jugraj Singh scored the opening goal for Delhi in the 36th minute after which Delhi scored another three goals. Day 4 of Junior Men’s Hockey Nationals 2013: Punjab, Haryana and SAI reach Quarters

6 June 2013: Hosts Haryana, Punjab and Sports Authority of India (SAI) won respectively matches on 4th day of Junior Men’s Hockey Nationals being played at Moti Lal Nehru Sports Complex, Rai in Sonepat. These are the 1st set of the teams of who have qualified for the knock out stage (quarter-finals) of the tournament i.e. 3rd Hockey India Junior Men National Championship 2013.

The Fans of HockeyParvinder Singh and Gurjant Singh scored twice each as Punjab defeated Jharkhand 7-2 in their last league match of Pool A. Punjab scored through Harsahib Singh (2 min), Parvinder Singh (5, 67 min), Gurjant Singh (11, 15 min), Lovepreet Singh (17 min) and Ajit Pandit (64 min) while Mangra Bhengra (37 min) and Sumanta Hemrom (48 min) scored for Jharkhand.
