Haldwani, Uttarakhand, 25 May 2014: Debutants Hockey Gangpur-Odisha defeated Sports Authority of India (SAI) to win the B-Division of 4th Sub Junior National Hockey Championship 2014. Punjab finished at 3rd place by defeating Bhopal by a huge margin of 13-0, while the team from Gangpur-Odisha defeated SAI by 2-1 in final played here in Haldwani, Uttarakhand today.

23 March 2014: Railway Sports Promotion Board defeated the defending Champions Haryana by 4-0 in the finals of the 4th Hockey India Senior Women National Championship 2014 (Division A) to emerge champions, while Jharkhand defeated Punjab 5-0 to finish 3rd the in the championship.

Coming into the match as the favorite for the title, Haryana could not live upto the expectations and allowed the pressure to seep in. Taking advantage of this Railway Sports Promotion Board kept the attack on the opponents in the entire first session. Their consistency saw results in the 25th minute when experience Indian forward Vandana Katariya scored a field goal for the team. 22nd March 2014: Defending Champions Haryana and Railway Sports Promotion Board prove their mettle in their respective semi-final matches to enter the finals of the 4th Hockey India Senior Women National Championship 2014 (Division A) to be played in Bhopal at Aish Bagh stadium tomorrow.
In the first semi-final, Haryana triumphed over Jharkhand with a handsome margin of 7-3. Though it was Jharkhand, who scored the first goal of the match and open their account in the 10th minute coming as a field goal through Poonam Barla, the Defending Champions Harayana reciprocated the favour within a minute when Manjit Kaur made no mistake in converting a penalty corner in the 11th minute itself. Followed by a field goal in the 13thminute coming from Navneet Kaur and in the 31st minute from Navjot Kaur, Haryana took over the game by 3-1. Jharkhand showed signs of a challenging battle when in the 33rd minute Poonam Barla again struck a goal for Jharkhand and reduced the margin to 3-2 by the end of the first half. Continue reading →
20 March 2014: Railways, Haryana, Jharkhand and Punjab qualified for the semi-finals of the ongoing 4th Hockey India Senior Women National Championship 2014 (A Division) in Bhopal at Aish Bagh and MDC stadium.

Haryana will meet Jharkhand in the first Semi-final and Punjab will take on Railways in the second semi final to be played this Saturday.
In a pool B match, Railways defeated Bihar with a massive goal difference of 24-0 including 20 Field Goals and four penalty corners. The first goal was scored by Rani in the 5th minute. Rani emerged as the highest scorer of the match scoring in the 8th, 34th, 46th and 62 minute. By half time, Railways had consolidated 11-0 lead over Bihar. Railways continued their dominance in the second half as well where they scored additional 13 goals to take the score further ahead to 24-0. Hockey Bhopal defeated Mumbai Hockey Association with final score line of 14-1 in Pool C. Bhopal built an early pressure on the opponent as Rashmi Singh scored the first goal in the very first minute of the game. Rashmi went on to score a total of four goals including both opening and closing goal of the match. Bhagyashree Agarwal of Mumbai managed to sneak in a goal in the 18th minute to bring the score to 3-1 in the first half of the match and gave a hint for a tough fight coming up, but team Mumbai failed to keep the momentum and lost with an infamy 14-1 margin. 19 March 2014: Assam clinched the title of 4th Hockey India Senior Women National Championship 2014 (Division B) as they managed to beat Himachal Pradesh 3-2 in a hard-fought final played at the Aish Bagh Stadium in Bhopal.
