March 30, 2014: Steel Plant Sports Board and Manipur will face each other in the Finals of the 4th Hockey India Junior Men National Championship 2014 (Division B) in Chennai. Steel Plant Sports Board defeated Services Sports Control Board 3-2 in the first semi final, while Manipur edged past Bengal by 3-2 in shoot-out after finishing at 2-2 in stipulated time.
In the super exiting match both the teams, Steel Plant Sports Board and Services Sports Control Board, showcased their strengths and defended very well in the first half. Naveen Minz scored the first goal for the Services Sports Control Board in the 22nd minute of the game and took the lead of 1-0 for the team. Soon in the 27th minute Janma Majhi of Steel Plant Sports Board levelled the score though a field goal. Both the teams gave tough fight to each other and scored 1 goal each till the half time. 14 March 2014: On the 2nd day of the 4th Hockey India Senior Women National Championship (A-Division), Vidarbha Hockey Association rain 11 goals on team Goa in Pool A, while Himachal Pradesh crushed Jammu & Kashmir 12-0, Rajasthan beat Puducherry 6-0 and Assam edged past Bengal 1-0.

After Captain Roshni Kupale scored the first goal for her team, Vidarbha Hockey Association, in the 16th minute it was Sarika Malkhede who scored a hat-trick goal. While 2 goals came before the end of 1st half right after the start of 2nd half she scored her third goal for her team.
Post that it was Sarita Malkhede who went on to score a hat-trick goal which she delivered within 6 minutes and came in the 43rd, 47th and 48th minute. After that it was again Sarika Malkhede who added another 2 goals to tally in the 53rd and 62nd minute. This helped Vidarbha Hockey Association take an easy win over Goa. Continue reading →
Maharashtra played out a tough 3-3 draw against Delhi at the Major Dhyan Chand Hockey Stadium in Lucknow on day-7 of the 4th Hockey India Senior Men National Championship 2014 (Division B) to secure themselves a place in semi finals.
Post the match both Maharashtra and Chhattisgarh are placed with 11 points each on the table in Pool D. But Maharashta piped Chhattisgarh in points table on the basis of goal difference to qualify for the semi-finals. While Hockey Gangpur – Odisha, having 15 points in their kitty, have entered the semi-finals of the 4th Hockey India Senior Men National Championship from Pool ‘C’.

Chhattisgarh defeated Kerala in a thriller to reach the top of Pool D, but their place in semi final will be dependent on the result of the match between Maharashtra and Delhi to be played tomorrow. Chhattisgarh will be in semis if Maharashtra fails to score a victory, otherwise Maharashtra will be through to final four.

In the other match of the day, Bengal blanked Mizoram 5-0 with help of hat trick from Susheel Gupta in a Pool C league match. In the second consecutive win for Bengal, Asheesh Sengar and Sunil Shah scored a goal each to complete the tally. Bengal goalkeeper Bappa Saha denied any scoring opportunity to the opponents.
