Indian Junior Men’s Core Probables Back for the Camp in SAI South Centre Bangalore

37 Junior Indian Men’s Hockey players are called for camp underway at SAI South Centre in Bangalore. The camp is part of the preparations for the FIH Junior Men’s Hockey World Cup to be hosted by India from 6 – 15 December 2013.

Revisiting World Series Hockey 2012, While Waiting for WSH-2

Exactly a year ago, 1st edition of World Series Hockey was concluded with Sher-e-Punjab emerging as champions. Sher-e-Punjab had outclassed (5-2) Pune Strykers to win the 1st title of WSH.

Eight franchise based teams Bhopal Badshahs, Chandigarh Comets, Chennai Cheetahs, Delhi Wizards, Karnataka Lions, Mumbai Marines, Pune Strykers and Sher-e-Punjab participated in the 1st edition of WSH organized by Nimbus Sports in association with Indian Hockey Federation (IHF). 160 Indian players and 48 players from abroad (0.3 ratio of International players with respect to Indian players) played in the 2012 edition of the month long event.

Apart from a total of Rs. 10,00,00,000/- prize money, WSH invested a few Crores of Rupees in improving the infrastructure at host venues such as installation/upgradation of lights, laying/repairing of turf, installation of world class goalposts, etc. The WSH also worked with stadium authorities through out 8 venues (Bangalore, Bhopal, Chandigarh, Chennai, Delhi, Jalandhar, Mumbai and Pune) to repair/upgrade and create facilities such as change rooms for the players, rest-rooms for spectators, etc. which are critical facilities but ignored often by the organizers and hosts. Devinder Walmiki is Happy to be back in Junior India Hockey Camp

Talented youngsters like Devinder Walmiki, Affan Yousuf, Harmanpreet Singh (Goalkeeper), Ramandeep Singh, etc. who were sidelined because they participated in World Series Hockey, have been called to junior national camp starting from 1st April in Bangalore.

Devinder Walmiki, who led Junior Indian Hockey team in the inaugural editiion of Sultan of Johor Cup in 2011, is so happy with the call that he does not have words to describe it.

While interacting with thefansofhockey.com, he said, “It has been long wait, I do not have words to express my happiness to be back in the camp. I am very thankful to the people who believed in my capabilities and backed me.”

Call for Selection Trials for Karnataka Hockey Teams for Upcoming Nationals

Hockey Karnataka will be conducting selection trials to select Sub-Junior, Junior and Senior Karnataka Hockey Teams in Men’s and Women’s categories for upcoming Hockey Nationals.

The selection trials for Senior Women’s players are proposed on 27th – 28th March, 2013 at Hockey Stadium, Bangalore. The team will participate in 3rd Hockey India Women’s (Senior) Hockey National Championship, to be played from 18th to 30th April 2013 at Lucknow.

Junior Karnataka Women’s Hockey Players’ trials will be conducted on 3rd – 4th April, 2013 between 8AM and 10 AM. The 3rd Hockey India Women’s (Junior) Hockey National Championship will be played at Ranchi from 19th April to 1st May 2013, for which players born on or after 1st January 1994 are eligible. Jude Felix Hockey Academy (JFHA) is organizing summer camp from 7th-21st April and 4th-18th May 2013. The camp is open for all irrespective of skills or age, but there will be separate training groups based on skills and age.
