19 March 2014: Assam clinched the title of 4th Hockey India Senior Women National Championship 2014 (Division B) as they managed to beat Himachal Pradesh 3-2 in a hard-fought final played at the Aish Bagh Stadium in Bhopal.

Himachal Pradesh gave a challenging start to the game when Ravita Chauhan scored the very first goal for the team in the 4th minute of the game itself. Assam took no time in returning the favour and found the target twice in 6th and 8th minute with the help of Dolly Yadav and Maully Yadav, respectively and took away lead from Himachal by the end of the first half at 2-1. 18 March 2014: Himachal Pradesh pipped Delhi in shoot-out and Assam beat Tamil Nadu to enter the finals of the 4th Hockey India Senior Women National Championship 2014 (Division B) being played at Aish Bagh Hockey Stadium in Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh.

In the first semi-final, Assam defeated Tamil Nadu 3-1 to book their berth for the finals of the championship. Tamil Nadu opened its account in the 4th minute through field goal scored by Karuppayee but Assam’s Seema Bharti’s quick reply in the 6th minute leveled the scores of the match. A penalty corner conversion by Shikha Singh in the 15th minute and a field goal by Pooja Choudhary in the 31st minute helped Assam take the lead 3-1 till the half time. Continue reading →
15 March 2014: Delhi defeated Rajasthan by 4-0 in a Pool D match to secure its third consecutive win and enter in to the Semi-finals of the 4th Hockey India Senior Women National Championship 2014 (Division B).
The match saw a slow start in the first half of the game as Delhi pocketed its first goal in the 33rd minute through Ruby Khod’s field goal and Delhi secured the lead over Rajasthan with 1-0 by the half time. Whereas, in the second half of the game, Delhi picked up the pace and stroked in three more goals and wrapped up the match at 4-0. Delhi’s Sunita Rani and Captain Teena pierced in a penalty corner in 45th minute and a field goal in the 52nd minute respectively, but closing goal for the match came through Ruby Khod as a field goal in the 67th minute and took the lead ahead by 4 goals to 0 and helped Delhi qualify for the semi-finals. 15 March 2014: Assam defeated Vidarbha Hockey Association 7-1 in Pool A to qualify for the semi-finals of the 4th Hockey India Senior Women National Championship 2014 (Division A). Assam today registered their third consecutive win and remained on the top of the Pool table with three wins from the matches they have played.

Assam scored its opening goal in the 2nd minute through penalty corner converted by Seema Bharti. In the 20th minute Assam yet again got a penalty corner and this time, Shikha Singh did the job for the team. Within 3 minutes Assam struck again when Nilima Pandey converted a pass which she got in the 23rd minute and hence taking the tally to 3-0. Vidarbha Hockey Association scored its 1st goal in the 24th minute and it was Nilam Nishad who scored for her team through a field goal. 14 March 2014: On the 2nd day of the 4th Hockey India Senior Women National Championship (A-Division), Vidarbha Hockey Association rain 11 goals on team Goa in Pool A, while Himachal Pradesh crushed Jammu & Kashmir 12-0, Rajasthan beat Puducherry 6-0 and Assam edged past Bengal 1-0.

After Captain Roshni Kupale scored the first goal for her team, Vidarbha Hockey Association, in the 16th minute it was Sarika Malkhede who scored a hat-trick goal. While 2 goals came before the end of 1st half right after the start of 2nd half she scored her third goal for her team.
Post that it was Sarita Malkhede who went on to score a hat-trick goal which she delivered within 6 minutes and came in the 43rd, 47th and 48th minute. After that it was again Sarika Malkhede who added another 2 goals to tally in the 53rd and 62nd minute. This helped Vidarbha Hockey Association take an easy win over Goa. Continue reading →
On the sixth day of the 4th Hockey India Junior Women National Championship 2014, Hockey Gangpur-Odisha and Kerala confirmed their places in semi-finals of the B-Division of the tournament being played at the Astro-turf of Chamundi Vihar grounds Mysore.

Hockey Gangpur-Odisha and Assam will face each other in semi-finals to be played on Wednesday (12th March), while winners of Pool A and C, Manipur and Chhattisgarh take on each other for the places in final of 4th Hockey India Junior Women National Championship 2014 (Division B).
Hockey Gangpur-Odisha defeated Assam by 8-1. In the match, Rinki Kujur Rajita Kujur and Janhabi Pradhan scored two goals each. Though there was sense of resistance from the Hockey Assam defenders but it was not enough to stop the Gangpur team. Maxima Xalxo of Assam, who has scored goals in every game in the tournament scored the lone goal for her team in 46th minute. Continue reading →
