Women Prepare for Asian Games at NIS, Men to play exhibition match in Raipur

The Indian Senior Women core probables are busy in preparing for the 17th Asian Games at the NIS Patiala, while Men’s core probables will play at India ‘A’ vs India ‘B’ exhibition on the occasion of the birth anniversary of the late Major Dhyanchand and National Sports Day on 29th August 2014.

The exhibition match will also mark the celebration of new International Hockey Stadium in Raipur, which will be inaugurated the Hon’ble Chief Minister of Chhattisgarh, Dr. Raman Singh and Speaker of Chhattisgarh Legislative Assembly, Hon’ble Gauri Shankar Agarwal  to be held at Incheon, South Korea from 19th September 2014. Post their Silver Medal finish in the just culminated Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games; the Senior Men Hockey Core Probables continue their practice sessions at the Major Dhyan Chand National Stadium in New Delhi, ahead of the 17th Asian Games to be played at Incheon, South Korea from 19th September 2014 and looking to grab Gold medal in the quadrennial event.

Recently, the Asian Hockey Federation has announced the pools for Hockey for both Men and Women during the 17th Asian Games, which is an all important event for both Indian Men and Women teams as their bagging the Gold will ensure them a berth in 2016 Summer Olympics at Rio de Janerio, Brazil.

India to 3 play test series against Bangladesh in Dhaka from Aug 6

Development Side of India will leave for Dhaka to play a three match series against Bangladesh in attempt to provide international exposure to the young players just before the upcoming Asian Games to be held in Korea from 19 September – 4 October 2014.

India should be looking at the Gold medal at 2014 Incheon Asian Games to book their place in Rio 2016 Olympics in the first ever opportunity, otherwise will have to depend on World League, which has replaced the Olympics and World Cup qualifiers since Rabobank Hockey World Cup 2014.

Sardar aims for CWG 2014 Gold and Olympic Berth through Asiads

New Delhi, 11 July 2014: The Indian Men Hockey team is preparing the for the upcoming Commonwealth Games 2014 to be held in Glasgow (Scotland).

Speaking before ahead of the teams departure for Glasgow, both Captain Sardar Singh and Chief Coach Terry Walsh are excited and looking forward to the challenge.  The Indian Men Hockey Team will leave for Commonwealth Games 2014 on Sunday, 13th July 2014.

Speaking on the objective for the upcoming tournament Chief Coach Terry Walsh said  “The key objective at CWG 2014 will be to play world class hockey in every match. There are no benchmarks for the team and for me performing well and rising to the occasion is more important. We have worked on almost all areas of the game and are looking at finishing in the Top 2.
