8 June 2013: Delhi entered the quarter-finals of the 3rd Hockey India Junior Men National Championship played at Moti Lal Nehru Sports Complex, Rai in Sonepat on Saturday.
Delhi registered a second consecutive win in Pool-D, as they defeated Andhra Pradesh 4-1. After conceding an early goal in the first half, Delhi came from behind and scored four goals in the other half. Turning point came in the match when Jugraj Singh scored the opening goal for Delhi in the 36th minute after which Delhi scored another three goals. 6 June 2013: Defending champions Punjab along with Manipur and Jharkhand has entered the Quarter-Finals of the 3rd Hockey India Senior Men National Championship 2013 being played in Pune. Chandigarh, Railways, Haryana and Air India are the other teams who have already qualified for the Quarter-finals.
Deepak Thakur scored 5 goals for Punjab
Riding on form of former Indian captain Deepak Thakur, who scored 5 goals, Punjab defeated Delhi 9-2 in their last league match of Pool A to emerge pool toppers.
In addition to 5 goals of Deepak for unbeatable Punjab, Vikramjit Singh scored thrice while Davinder Pal Singh found the target once. Pawan Singh Chauhan and Avtar Singh Mann scored a goal each for Delhi to reduce the margin to 9-2.
In Pool C, Karnataka registered their third consecutive win, as they defeated Bihar 8-1. Karnataka scored through S K Uthappa (11 min), Nikkin Thimmaiah (22 min), S K Chingappa (29, 31 min), M K Muddappa (39 min), Vickram Kant (43 min), B S Bidappa (51 min) and M G Poonacha (52 min) while Bihar’s only reply came from Satnam Singh (56 min). 6 June 2013: Hosts Haryana, Punjab and Sports Authority of India (SAI) won respectively matches on 4th day of Junior Men’s Hockey Nationals being played at Moti Lal Nehru Sports Complex, Rai in Sonepat. These are the 1st set of the teams of who have qualified for the knock out stage (quarter-finals) of the tournament i.e. 3rd Hockey India Junior Men National Championship 2013.
Parvinder Singh and Gurjant Singh scored twice each as Punjab defeated Jharkhand 7-2 in their last league match of Pool A. Punjab scored through Harsahib Singh (2 min), Parvinder Singh (5, 67 min), Gurjant Singh (11, 15 min), Lovepreet Singh (17 min) and Ajit Pandit (64 min) while Mangra Bhengra (37 min) and Sumanta Hemrom (48 min) scored for Jharkhand. 4 June 2013: Delhi defeated Gujarat 11-1 in their Pool A league match on the 8th day of Pune Hockey Nationals 2013. Defending Champions Punjab, Karnataka and Manipur also won their respective matches of the day in the 3rd Hockey India Senior Men National Championship 2013 being played in Pune.

The goal scorers for Delhi were Own Goal (3min), Mohit 5, 14, 16 (min), Parveen Kumar (20min), Parshant (26min), Kabir Sharma (27min), Kuldeep (28min), Pradeep Kumar (45min), Anil Kumar (55min) and Rajbir Yadav (58min) while Rohit Thakur (35min) scored the only goal for Gujarat.
In the other match of Pool A, defending champions Punjab registered their second win beating Association of Indian Universities 8-4. New Delhi, 2 June 2013: Indian Railways, Air India and Haryana entered the quarter-finals of the Pune Hockey Nationals 2013. They defeated Namdhari XI, MPHA and Maharashtra respectively on 6th day of the 3rd Hockey India Senior Men National Championship 2013 played at Shiv Chattrapati Sports Complex in Pune to book their seats in knock out stage.
