Giving a major boost to the national game ahead all-important the Olympic Qualifiers, Sahara India Pariwar has signed a new five-year sponsorship deal with Hockey India, continue its association with hockey since 2003. The Sahara India Parviwar would sponsor the men’s and women’s national teams as well as junior ones for for next five years. According to sources, Sahara India would be paying Rs 50 Crore for the next five year as per deal, which is 170 per cent higher than the previous deal.
“It’s our national game and we are proud to be associated with it and are elated to continue our patronage and support of the game. We will achieve greater laurels and success in the sport of hockey in the coming years and Sahara India Pariwar is committed to the development of the sport at all levels,” Sahara shri Subrata Roy said after signing the deal with Hockey India.
The corporate giant, also mentioned that apart from the sponsorship money, they would continue to help players in different ways as they have done in past. In addition to being sponsor to the Indian Hockey Team, they hosted Indian hockey team in Lucknow for Champion’s Trophy – 2003 coaching camp and the organization arranged for the boarding, lodging, practice camps and traveling of the entire Indian Hockey Team. Sahara India also organised a physical conditioning camp for the whole contingent in Germany as a part of the Hockey World Cup.
