Air India face CAG in final of Sr Men Nationals (A-Division) at Lucknow

22nd March 2014: Air India Sports Promotion Board and Comptroller & Auditor General Of India beat Uttar Pradesh and Railway Sports Promotion Board respectively to set-up summit clash of the 4th Hockey India Senior Men National Championship 2014 (Division A) to be played at Major Dhyan Chand Hockey Stadium in Lucknow tomorrow.

In the first semi-final, a tough fight was witnessed between Air India Sports Promotion Board and Uttar Pradesh where both teams showed extraordinary skills throughout the play. A small mistake by Uttar Pradesh gave Air India Sports Promotion Board a penalty corner opportunity in the 13th minute of the game and Gaganpreet Singh made no mistake in converting it into a goal and helped the team take a much-needed 1-0 lead. UP, Railways, Air India and CAG in Semis of Sr Nationals (A-Div) in Lucknow

20 March 2014: Hosts Uttar Pradesh, Railways and Air India Sports Promotion Board along with Comptroller & Auditor General Of India reached the semi-finals of the 4th Hockey India Senior Men National Championship 2014 (Division A).

In a Pool A match, Air India Sports Promotion Board bagged an easy win over Andhra Pradesh as they out righted the latter with a 3-0 lead till the half time of the match. The first damage of the day for Andhra Pradesh came in as a field goal in the very 5th minute of the match through Osaf Ur Rehman of Air India Sports Promotion Board supported by two more goals in the 20th minute as a field goal by Armaan Qureshi and in the 34th minute as a successful penalty corner conversion through Gaganpreet Singh. 118th Beighton Cup Hockey: Quarfer Final League from Nov 7

118th edition of the Beighton Cup Hockey Tournament, the oldest hockey tournament in world, is being played at Sports Authority of India, Kolkata since October 28th. The Quarter Final League stage of the tournament will start from tomorrow (7 November 2013).

Four teams including defending champions Indian Oil, Air India, Army XI and ONGC have been seeded directly into the Quarter Final league stage. The qualifying matches for Quarter Finals league were completed today.

Today, CAG defeated South Central Railway 4-2 to become the 4th qualifying team for the Quarter Final League stage, while Northern Railways defeated Young Society by 7-1. Yesterday, ERSA and Central Railways won their respective matches against Canara Bank (4-3) and CESC Sporting Club (4-3) respectively to qualify for QF League stage of the 2013 edition of Beighton Cup Hockey Tournament. It’s Inter-Oil and Inter-Bank in Semis of MCC-Murugappa Gold Cup Hockey

With BPCL defeating Air India 3-1, the semi-final line-up of the 88th All India MCC-Murugappa Gold Cup Hockey Tournament 2013 is confirmed. It will be inter-oil i.e. IOCL vs BPCL and inter-bank i.e. PNB vs IOB in the semi-finals at Mayor Radhakrishnan Hockey Stadium at Egmore in Chennai on Saturday, 21st September (Detailed schedule and results here).

The defending co-champions Air India failed to make it final four after losing to SAIL (2-5) and BPCL (1-3) in pool stage and finished 3rd in their Pool B behind PNB and BPCL. PNB and BPCL have lost one match each in the pool stage as PNB sneaked ahead on 1st place with better goal difference.

The defending co-champions of MCC-Murugappa Gold Cup, IOCL progressed to semi finals with four wins from four matches, while IOB finished 2nd in their Pool A with just one defeat to IOCL (1-3) and winning three other matches to make it semi finals. Continue reading →

Riding on hat-tricks of Indian International star players, Air India and IOCL scored big wins on 2nd day of MCC-Murugappa Gold Cup Hockey Tournament 2013 being played at the Mayor Radhakrishnan Stadium, Egmore, Chennai, while IOB defeated Army XI in final game of the day.

Star forward Prabhjot Singh and ace drag flicker V R Raghunath scored 3 goals each; Deepak Thakur (29″-FG) and Didar Singh (37″-PC) added one each for IOCL to beat Comptroller & Auditor General of India (CAG) 8-1 in Pool A. SS Bundela scored lone goal for CAG in 31st minute on a penalty corner.
