Amit Rohidas feels Hero Hockey India League is Big Opportunity for Players like him

It’s a dream come true for the young lad from Ranchi who fetched a princely amount of Rs.16 lakh in the recently conducted auction and will now rub shoulders with leading international players within ten days. Amit Rohidas, who has already made his mark at the junior international level and is now dribbling his way into the senior internationals, is very happy to be a part of the inaugural Hero Hockey India League and his team Ranchi Rhinos.

Seeing some interest (of franchisees) in me during the Players’ Auction and getting a huge opportunity to play with top international players are really very special to me,” said the 19-year-old defender from Sundargarh district of Odisha.

Rohidas was bought by Ranchi Rhinos at price of $29,000, five times more than his Base Price of $5,600 at the HIL Players’ Auction. He will be playing with legendary players such as Moritz Fuertse (Germany), Ashley Jackson (England), Austin Smith (South Africa), Floris Evers (The Netherlands) and Francisco Cortes (Spain). Technical Officials for Hero Hockey India League

New Delhi, 4 January 2013: Hero Hockey India League today announced the panel of Technical Officials for its inaugural season, which will be held from 14 January to 10 February 2013.

Well-experienced Barry Anderson from England will be the Tournament Director for the five team franchisee based event. The 61-year-old Englishman has vast experience in his respective field has attended three FIH Champions Trophy, three FIH Champions Challenge and FIH World Cup Qualifying Tournaments.

Anderson will be supported by five Assistant Tournament Directors – Claudius De Sale, Muneer Mohammad, Shakeel Qureshi (all from India), Ian McKay (Scotland) and Howard Pollard (England). Continue reading →

New Delhi, 1 January 2013: Hockey India League (HIL) signed a multi-year deal with Hero MotoCorp, the world’s largest two-wheeler manufacturer, for the ‘Title Sponsorship’ of the much-awaited League.
