Playing for the third position, Delhi Waveriders and Uttar Pradesh Wizards met in the third place playoff match of the Hero Hockey India League 2015. Having missed the Finale berth, both the teams were determined to win and claim the position in the League. With the scores locked at 1-1 the second half was the decider session for both the teams. It was Delhi Waveriders who successfully kept the pressure on the opponents and won the match 2-1, taking home Rs. 75,00,000.

Getting into their business side of the field, Uttar Pradesh Wizards were on the attack immediately as the match started, but the defence of Delhi Waveriders were more determined and cleared the danger. Delhi Waveriders earning their first penalty corner in the sixth minute missed converting, but Rupinder Pal Singh counter attacked by entering the D and scored a brilliant field goal, giving Delhi Waveriders their first goal in the match. Playing for the second spot in final, Jaypee Punjab Warriors met the defending champions Delhi Waveriders in the second semi-final, which was repeat of last edition’s final, where Delhi team emerged winners. Jaypee Punjab Warriors dominated the entire match giving no chance to Delhi Waveriders to bounce back. The first Semi Final of the Hero Hockey India League 2015 saw intense competition between Uttar Pradesh Wizards and Ranchi Rays as they fought hard for a place in Final to be played tomorrow. At the end of regulation time of 60 minute (4 quarters of 15 minutes each) the scores were tied 1-1 resulting in a penalty shootout, which MS Dhoni’s team won.

The spectators and viewers on TV across the world, witnessed spectacular hockey as both the teams ensured that they did not give the other the chance to walk away with the game. The third edition of Hero Hockey India League (HIL 2015) has reached its business with semi-finals and finals scheduled to be played this weekend at Major Dhyan Chand National Hockey Stadium in New Delhi. Kalinga Lancers will hosts Dabang Mumbai tomorrow, when the two sides met in Mumbai, both Kalinga Lancers and Dabang Mumbai gave a tough fight to each other but Dabang Mumbai managed to edge past Kalinga Lancers by a margin of just one goal. Currently, both the teams are sitting at the bottom of the Pool Table and will be striving to conquer the match in order to avoid finishing at the last position in the league.

An energetic first quarter of the match saw both Kalinga Lancers and Delhi Waveriders in an attacking mode as both the sides were trying to score the first goal in the match. Where Yuvraj Walmiki of Delhi Waveriders made a good run into the opponent’s D and failed to score the goal, Lucas Vila of Kalinga Lancers on the other hand, made a similar run but did not make any mistakes while firing in a field goal in the third minute of the game itself, helping Kalinga Lancers to take the lead by 1-0. Kalinga Lancers were dominating the first quarter as they were now penetrating Delhi Waveriders’ D more frequently, but goalkeeper Nicolas Jacobi with his perfect saves and atheletic skills, did not allow Kalinga Lancers to add any further goals to their lead.
