New Delhi, 19 January 2015: The most-awaited hockey league, Hero Hockey India League 2015 is all set to begin with a dazzling Opening Ceremony at the illustrious Kalinga Stadium, Bhubaneswar on 22nd January 2015.

The 3rd edition of the League will start with a clash between home team Kalinga Lancers and new look team from Ranchi, Ranchi Rays co-owned by Mahendra Singh Dhoni (Captain of Indian Cricket Team) in-front of the hockey-crazy fans of Odisha.
After the thriving past seasons of the League, young talents of both Kalinga Lancers and Ranchi Rays are perfectly groomed-up and ready as a spirited side with the abilities to stun any mighty team. In this season, the Ranchi Rays are entirely focussed on winning the most number of matches with the objective to reach the finals. On the other side, Kalinga Lancers, who finished at the bottom of the table in their debut season, are now in a much better shape with a perfect team of settled as well as young talents. Kalinga Lancers revealed their new team jersey for the upcoming season of Hero Hockey India League, starting January 22, 2015. Lancers Captain Vickram Kanth and Head Coach Jude Felix launched their jersey today at Hotel Mayfair, followed by the team announcement of Kalinga Lancers and uncovering a gleaming golden ‘Man of the Match’ Trophy, one of its kinds, at the ceremony.

The Lancers will be seen sporting a vibrant orange and white coloured jersey proudly when they step out on their home turf against Ranchi Rays, at Kalinga Stadium on the first day of the League. The Kalinga Lancers jersey in this edition will don cosmetic changes which enhances the overall look and feel, making it appear more energetic and full of life. What stole the show was the ‘Man of the Match’ Trophy – that was unveiled keeping in view the craze and passion that the people of Bhubaneswar have in their hearts for Hockey. The unique golden-in-colour trophy has a figure of a player with a hockey stick in his hands, above a golden round ball which rightly conveys the message of taking the popular game to the entire world. It rests on a wooden stand with a plaque that exhibits the team’s logo on it with utmost pride. Hockey India League today announced that the Mumbai franchise has been taken up by DoIT Sports Management (India) Pvt. Ltd., a creative sports entity championing “Rurban” Indian sporting ventures, making it the sixth franchise that will compete in the prestigious international event, held every year in January – February.
In the first two seasons, Dabur group owned Mumbai franchise, who pulled out of the league. Winners of first edition Ranchi Rhinos also pulled out of the league, while a new franchise owned Deccan Water Treatment Pvt. Ltd. has been added. The new franchise will be based in Pune. Continue reading →
They might have struggled for most part of the tournament but Dabur Mumbai Magicians drew curtains to their campaign in the second Hero Hockey India League in style, defeating Uttar Pradesh Wizards 3-2 to register their second consecutive win this year at the Dhyan Chand Hockey Stadium in Lucknow.

It was Dabur Mumbai Magicians second victory in the tournament this year after having defeated debutants Kalinga Lancers 3-2 in their previous match and thus pipped Kalinga Lancers to avoid wooden spoon in the tournament.
UP Wizards drew the first blood in the 22nd minute through lanky striker Nithin Thimmaiah who scored a field goal.
But Dabur Mumbai Magicians made a remarkable comeback and pumped in three goals to stun the hosts. Continue reading →
