The Junior Black Sticks Women have edged hosts Germany 2-1 to finish 9th at the ERGO Hockey Junior World Cup in Mönchengladbach. A complete team performance from the Kiwi girls saw them dominate the first half, although converting opportunities proved difficult. Jillaroos Went Down to Spain to Finish 5th at Junior World Cup

Australia’s U21 women’s hockey team, the Jillaroos, finished sixth at the ERGO Hockey Junior World Cup in Germany on Sunday after going down 1-0 to Spain in their final match of the tournament. In a game reminiscent of their earlier quarter final defeat to England, Australia were in control throughout but failed to find a way past a determined Spanish defence and ultimately lost out to one of their opponent’s rare shots on target. With 4-1 win over China, the Junior Black Sticks has set up a playoff for ninth place against hosts Germany at the ERGO Hockey Junior World Cup in Mönchengladbach. The Kiwis played well for the full 70 minutes, creating a glut of great scoring opportunities and defending strongly. The Junior Black Sticks opened the scoring against China in the 25th minute with Julia King netting a field goal. Argentina Beat England to Reach Final of Junior World Cup (Women)

England Under-21 Women were beaten 3-0 by Argentina in the semi finals of the ERGO Junior World Cup in Germany, despite battling well throughout the match in Mönchengladbach on Friday afternoon. England will now face India in bronze medal match on Sunday, as India lost to Netherlands in other semi final, while Netherlands and Argentina will take on each for the Junior World Champions Title in the summit clash. The Netherlands defeated valiant India 3-0 in the second semi-final of the ERGO Hockey Junior World Cup in Mönchengladbach, Germany. In the final match, the Netherlands will face Argentina, who also recorded 3-0 win in semi final against England. India will take on England in Sunday’s Bronze medal match at Pitch 1 of Warsteiner HockeyPark.
