Day 1 of the Women’s Hockey Games at Riverbank Arena in London concluded with Germany, Great Britain, Argentina, China, Netherlands and New Zealand earning 3 points each after winning the matches. Germany vs USA 2-1 (2-0 half-time) World #3 Germany scraped past (2-1) World #10 USA to earn their crucial 3 points. Germany will be relieved after winning it 2-1 from 2-0 lead at half time. LONDON – It was not the way the U.S. had hoped to start their Olympic campaign. Under the lights of Riverbank Arena, in the final match of opening day, Germany defeated the U.S. 2-1. Pan American Champions USA (Women’s) will meet #3 Germany on opening day of Hockey Competition

LONDON – The U.S. will face-off against world ranked No. 3 Germany on opening day, Sunday, 29 July, at 9:15 p.m. The match will be broadcast live on NBC Sports Network at 4:15 p.m. ET.  Germany is competing in their sixth Olympic Games, with their best appearance being a gold medal in 2004.
