The scheduled second round of the player draft for World Series Hockey was held today, with each team strengthening their squads from the pool of players. The first season of WSH starts on the 29th of February. In this draft, players from Australia, Argentina, Canada, Germany, Malaysia, South Africa & India were picked by the various franchises. Injured Gurbaj to Miss Olympic Qualifiers


Injured midfielder Gurbaj Singh, who sustained an injury on his right knee during the start of second phase of the preparatory camp here earlier this month, was left out of India’s 32 probables for the hockey Olympic Qualifying  tournament to be played from February 18 to 26 in New Delhi. Besides India, the other participating teams in the tournament are Canada, France, Poland, USA and Italy. Indian women’s team will play a 4 match test series against Azerbaijan at Major Dhyan Chand National Stadium in New Delhi on 15th, 16th, 18th and 19th January 2012 (3:00PM to 4:30PM) as a part of their preparatory camp for Olympic Qualifiers. The core group of Indian men’s hockey team reach Delhi on Saturday from Bangalore for the second phase of the Olympic qualification preparatory camp. The camp got underway at the Major Dhyan Chand National Stadium, New Delhi, on Sunday, which is also the venue of 1st Olympic Qualifiers for London Olympics 2012. Another Bronze for Indian eves, Gold for Las Leonas


Final standings in the Parna 4 Nations Hockey Tournament in Argentina, remained same as in the Buenos Aires tournament, as India beat Ireland 4-1 for Bronze medal while the hosts Las Leonas beat South Africa 2-0 in the Final. Europeans could not capitalize their early lead through Aine Connery in the 7th minute as India took a foothold in the game.
