Indian men’s team beat France 8-1 in the Finals of Hero FIH Road to London 2012, 1st of 3 Olympic Qualifying Tournament, which was held at Major Dhyan Chand National Stadium, New Delhi. While in women’s tournament final, South Africa defeated India 3-1 to qualify for London Games, which dashed the hopes of Indian eves team to play in Olympics after 32 years. Indian girls did wonderful a job in overcoming the defencive mode of their Italian counter-parts. As Italy needed a just draw to reach the finals of Olympic Qualifiers (to be played tomorrow at 8PM IST), whose winner will be play in London 2012, they played defencive and did not want to concede goals and attacked rarely. After three continuous win, on the roll, undefeated Indian men’s team defeated spirited Canada 3-2, who needed to win the match to stay in the tournament. South African women’s team came out with their best performances of the tournament to beat the hosts 2-5. Both Men and Women Indian teams clinically outclassed their opponents in their respective matches against France and Poland. Men beat France by a margin of 6-2, while women won the match 3-0 with clean sheet.
