Indian Men’s Hockey core probables are in Bangalore for the preparations of the Hockey World League 3 (Semi-Finals) to be played at Rotterdam in June. The Indian team had a week’s in between their fairly successful tour of the Netherlands and ongoing camp in Bangalore. Indian side won two of their matches against club sides, while lost the other two and drew one. The men in blue concluded their tour with two victories against the hosts Netherlands. Australia’s under 21 men’s hockey team, the Burras, have selected 20 athletes to tour Europe next month as preparations for December’s Junior World Cup get underway in earnest. Four years ago Australia won the bronze medal with victory over rivals New Zealand and the two week trip will see the Burras go up against the two teams that finished above them on the medal rostrum in 2009, Germany and the Netherlands. World Champions the Kookaburras will welcome back seven Olympians as they get their 2014 World Cup qualification campaign underway in Europe next month. The newest tournament in the international hockey calendar, the Hockey World League is Australia’s first opportunity to qualify for the 2014 World Cup. The Kookaburras name a 20-strong squad for the tour to Europe, which also includes two test matches against the Netherlands and one against rising stars Belgium. New Delhi 23 April 2013: Ritu Rani scored twice as India defeated Hockey Club Rotterdam 4-3 in their first game played at Rotterdam Hockey Stadium. Poonam Rani scored first goal for India in the 8th minute to earn lead for her side, but the hosts Hockey Club Rotterdam leveled the score in 13th minute through field goal. The local club side, scored two more in the 19th and 23th minutes of the game to build pressure on India.
