Junior Black Sticks Women Beat Korea Under-21 Hockey Team
The Junior Black Sticks Women (Under-21’s) have put on another strong display today winning 4-3 against Korea’s Under-21 side at Auckland Grammar Hockey Turf. Coach Chris Leslie was pleased with today’s performance and says this series goes a long way in preparing players for the Junior World Cup in Germany in July. “It was a step up from the first match [yesterday] and we certainly played with more intensity. We moved the ball on well and stretched the opposition on a number of occasions which was pleasing,” says Leslie.

Korea have beaten the Black Sticks Men 2-1 in the fourth test at Pukekohe this afternoon despite an improved attacking effort from the Kiwis. The Black Sticks worked hard in the second half to equalise, at times putting pressure on the Koreans, pushing forward and attacking with confidence. The Black Sticks Men have lost 2-0 to Korea at Counties Manukau Hockey in Pukekohe this afternoon, breaking the series deadlock in the third game of the six-test series. New Zealand ‘A’ Women Beat Korea U21s Hockey Team at Rangitoto College
Canterbury’s Anna Wetherall scored a hat-trick to inspire the New Zealand ‘A’ Women to a 5-2 win over the Korea U21s at Rangitoto College today. After losing to the same side 2-4 yesterday, New Zealand played much more cohesively in game two despite the heavy rain. Natasha Fitzsimons (North Harbour) and Jordy Grant (Canterbury) also scored for the New Zealand side, which held a 2-1 lead at halftime.
Black Sticks and Korea Men Play Another Draw in Test Series at Rangitoto College
An entertaining 70 minutes of hockey between the Black Sticks Men and Korea has ended with a 1-1 draw in the second test at Rangitoto College today. After being rested in the first test, drag flick expert Andy Hayward made an immediate impact for the Black Sticks after sending a 13th minute penalty corner low and inside the left post to give New Zealand the early advantage.
