The Junior Black Sticks were beaten 5-1 by Germany at the Sultan of Johor Cup last night in Johor Bahru, Malaysia. Andrew Meredith will be National Coach of Irish Men’s Hockey Team

Irish Hockey is delighted to announce Andrew Meredith as the National Men’s Hockey Coach. Meredith, born in Australia, is a FIH High Performance Coach and most recently worked alongside Markus Weise as the Assistant Coach of the men’s German team (2006 – 2012), where he has enjoyed a hugely successful coaching career including winning gold at the very recent London 2012 Olympics and at Beijing four years previously. Two weeks of extra-ordinary hockey action came to end with Germany defending their title successfully, as yesterday Netherlands did in Women’s category. Germany defeated Netherlands (2-1) in fitting finale at Riverbank Arena in London Olympic Park to win their 2nd successive Olympic Gold Medal.
