Australia Women Retain CWG Title, New Zealand get Bronze

In the most dramatic of circumstances the Australian women’s hockey team, the Hockeyroos, won a third consecutive Commonwealth Games gold medal on Saturday as they struck late to overhaul a determined England team in a shoot-out. While New Zealand Women’s Hockey team beat South Africa 5-2 to win Bronze medal at Glasgow 2014. England are through to the Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games Final against Australia at 20:15 local time, following a thrilling contest against world number four side New Zealand  which went to a shoot out after full-time finished 1-1. England goalkeeper Maddie Hinch became the hero, pulling off three saves in the shoot out to take her side through to the gold medal match. England and South Africa completed the women’s semi-final line up at the Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games with hard-fought victories. England defeated the host nation by 2-1 while South Africa edged past talented Indian side by 3-2 and will now face New Zealand and Australia respectively for a place in final. The New Zealand Women’s hockey team have confirmed their place in Semis of Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games from Pool A, while Australia booked their place in final four from Pool A.
