India Girls aim winning start against DPR Korea in 7th Junior Women’s Asia Cup

India Junior Women Hockey Team is all set to take on DPR Korea in their first match of the upcoming 7th Women’s Junior Asia Cup 2015 to be played on 5th September 2015 in Changzhou, China.

India are placed in Pool A of the tournament along with China, Malaysia, Singapore and DPR Korea. With the 7th Women’s Junior Asia Cup a qualification tournament for the 2016 FIH Junior World Cup (Women), the India Women Team will do their best to gain maximum out of the tournament and secure a place in the World Cup. This weekend, Unibet EuroHockey Championships concluded at Lee Valley Hockey and Tennis Centre, Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, London. Hosts England won the title in women’s category, and the Netherlands outclassed Germany to win men’s competition.

The International Hockey Federation (FIH) has confirmed today that India women and Spain have qualified for the hockey event at the Rio 2016 Olympic Games.

Raipur to host 2015 Men’s Hockey World League Final

The International Hockey Federation (FIH) has announced that the 2015 men’s Hockey World League Final will be hosted by the Indian city of Raipur, Chhattisgarh between 27 November and 6 December 2015.

The event will be held in the 3,000 capacity Raipur International Hockey Stadium which was opened as a dedicated hockey facility in August 2014. Continue reading →

New Zealand’s McAleese Speaks on FIH Tournament Format and Olympic Qualification

Shea McAleese, the Black Sticks hockey player, feels FIH (International Hockey Federation) has got the structure of Hockey tournaments wrong. Double Olympian McAleese, who has represented New Zealand in 2008 and 2012 Olympics, feels the current process of Olympic qualification is bizarre and wrong.

They were fantastic at Hockey World League Semi-Finals (WL3), yet hope that Black Sticks lose to Australia so that they qualify for Rio.
