Azlan Shah Cup 2011 Update and Live Commentary

Defending Champions India with little lesser experienced players than their recent outings in Asiads and CWG, new captain Arjun Halappa and new chief coach Harendra Singh are prepared to participate in 20th Sultan Azlan Shah Cup at Sultan Azlan Shah Stadium, Ipoh (Prak, Malaysia), which is a two hour drive north of Kuala Lumpur.

Official website of the tournament mentions that  “Only subscribers of Astro in Malaysia will be able to watch live telecast on television. Details of live matches to other countries are not made available to us of yet though we believe that India has made numerous requests but no word from the right holders.” Which is very sad affair for hockey lovers in India.

Arjun Halappa to don Captain’s Arm Band

Senior most member of the Indian team Arjun Halappa finally gets the chance to wear the Captain’s Arm Band, he has been named captain for the forthcoming Sultan Azlan Shah Cup to be held from 5th to 15th May, 2011. He was the captain of India A in 2004 and he is the most capped player of the current team (with 223 caps). He has played under captaincy of very junior players but never complained. Indian Hockey Team Honored

Yes, Shivraj Ji did it once again for hockey….

Yesterday, Indian hockey team and all the staff members were invited to Bhopal at the CM House for their honour for their brilliant performance at the Azlan Shah Cup 2010…

During the function he also cleared everybody that he doesn’t need a place in HI (Hockey India) cause many were thinking like that. He said that he just want to see the hockey at the top and nothing else.

He also said to the team that they should just concentrate on the game and leave rest of the things to him as he is ready to give even a blank cheque to them….

One more special thing was about the coach Brasa…
He came just 5 mins before the starting of the function and aate hi unhone sabse pehle ashok kumar (former olympian and son of legendary dhyanchand)  ke pair chue [:o]…..was shocking for everyone present there…..

Well, hope shivraj ji continues to be same in future as well.:)
