1MHL visits RDT Hockey Academy

After some great hockey during this season and quite a few trophies donning the shelves, Rural Development Trust (RDT) welcomed one of their first ever guests from the Hockey loving nation of Netherlands, a renowned sports business development strategist, Rob van Nes on 12th January, 2016.

Rob,  with Dutch Hockey Star Floris Jan Bovelander, has co-founded a great sporting initiative that is directed towards the development of hockey at the grassroots level in India. This visionary initiative is the “One Million Hockey Legs (1MHL)” program. It is also a great platform for India & the Netherlands to build great relations and develop a better sporting infrastructure at the grassroots and business relations in India with the help of the Netherlands. Air India (Men) and Haryana (Women) dethrone defending champs in Bengaluru Cup 2015

Star-studded Air India dethroned Indian Oil Corporation Limited 3-1 in the men’s final to lift the 2nd Bengaluru Hockey Cup, while in women’s competition Haryana XI edged past defending champions Madhya Pradesh Academy 2-1 in shoot-out to win the title. Both the teams played a 0-0 draw in the regulation time at the hockey Stadium here on Monday.

Winners Haryana XI (women) and Air India (men) got richer by 2.5 lakhs and runners-up MP Academy (women) and IOCL (men) were awarded with 1.25 lakhs each.

2nd Bengaluru Cup from 10th Oct and 32nd Surjit Hockey 30th Oct Onwards

The 32nd edition of the Indian Oil Surjit Hockey Tournament, will be held in Jalandhar Olympian Surjit Astroturf Hockey Stadium, Burlton Park from October 30 to November 5. And the 2nd edition of the Bengaluru Cup will be organized by Hockey Karnataka from 10th-19th October at KSHA Hockey Stadium in Bangalore.

Punjab Won Sub-Junior Women Nationals 2015, Odisha finished 3rd

After a neck-to-neck tussle between the two best teams of the 5th Hockey India Sub-Junior Women National Championship 2015, Hockey Punjab outplayed Hockey Jharkhand by a narrow margin of 3-2 in the final match and clinched the title in Ranchi today. In the 3rd/4thPosition match, Hockey Odisha defeated Hockey Haryana by 5-2 and claimed the 3rd Position in the Hockey India National Championship.

In B-Division, Hockey Mizoram claimed the champions tag by defeating Hockey Patiala 8-0. Whereas, Chandigarh Olympic Association settled at the third position post a wonderful victory in the hard-line match against Hockey Bhopal by 14-0. Continue reading →
