Ireland beat Malaysia in #HWL2015 and keep Olympic dream alive

Ireland have done all they can to secure their spot at the Rio Olympics with a polished 4-1 victory over world number 12 Malaysia today in 5th place play-off match at FINTRO Hockey World League Semi-Final 2015 in Antwerp, Belgium. Goals from Good, Caruth, Sothern and Darling put the game out of reach of a pacey Malaysian side that struggled to take their chances.

Great Britain beat India by 5-1 to finish 3rd in #HWL2015

A stunning attacking display from Bobby Crutchley’s Great Britain team blew India away as five different players helped themselves to goals in a 5-1 win. The win gave GB third place in the FINTRO Hockey World League Semi-Final 2015 in Antwerp, Belgium and confirmed a place in both the World League Final and at the Rio Olympics.

Netherlands, Korea and Australia (Top 3 in FINTRO #HWL2015) on #RoadtoRio

The Netherlands women won the FINTRO Hockey World League Semi-Final 2015 by defeating the Asian Champions Korea by 2-1 in the final at Dragons Hockey Club in Antwerp. In third place match, Australia defeated their trans-Tasmanian rivals New Zealand by 4-2 to qualify for Rio Olympics 2016.

#HWL2015 (W): India beat Japan to Keep themselves on #RoadtoRio

Riding on Rani’s goal and Savita’s goalkeeping India registered a narrow yet important win over higher ranked team Japan to claim the 5th position in the FINTRO World Hockey League Semi-Final 2015 (Women).

Thanks to Rani Rampal’s superb goal in the 13th minute and inform Goalie Savita Punia helped them not only register the win but even keep themselves in contention for the RIO Olympics 2016. After the winners of continental cups namely, European, Oceania and Pan-American are known, it could be confirmed if India will qualify for Olympics or not. #HWL2015: Belgium beat India 4-0 to Face Australia in Final

  • Australia and Belgium will contest final of FINTRO Hockey World League Semi-Final
  • Pakistan fail to qualify for Olympics for first time in their history
  • Great Britain play India in third place contest, but all four semi-finalists have Olympic qualification spots

A hat-trick for Florent van Aubel saw the hosts Belgium ease their way into the men’s final of the FINTRO Hockey World League Semi-Finals at the expense of India. The host nation will play Australia, who defeated Great Britain 3-1 in the second semi-final match.

The Netherlands and Korea reached the women’s competition final of the FINTRO Hockey World League Semi-Finals in Antwerp after winning semi-final against Australia and New Zealand respectively.

Goals from Carlien van den Heuvel, Maartje Paumen, Ginela Zerbo, Lidewij Welten and Willemijn Bos helped the Netherlands defeat Australia to book their place in the final.
