India Men Climbs to 8th place in latest FIH Ranking, Top Unchanged

  • Australia and the Netherlands maintain top spot in men’s and women’s FIH World Rankings
  • India and Canada men move up the rankings
  • Changes in the women’s top eight as USA slide down rankings

The International Hockey Federation (FIH) has released the latest World Rankings following the completion of the four events comprising the Hockey World League Semi-Finals – Buenos Aires and Antwerp (men); Valencia and Antwerp (women).

World Cup holders Australia men and the Netherlands women remain at the top of the World Rankings after both teams won their respective Hockey World League Semi-Final events, beating Belgium and Korea in the finals. The International Hockey Federation (FIH) have confirmed today that Host Nation Brazil men have qualified for the hockey event at the Rio 2016 Olympic Games. Brazil defeated USA in a shoot-out in the quarter finals of the Pan Am Games this morning, thereby qualifying for the semi-final and additionally confirming their place in the hockey event at the Rio 2016 Olympic Games. India Girls held Germany for 4-4 draw, Boys lost to Belgium by 3-1

After losing to the Netherlands by 0-1 in their first match, India Under-21 Women Hockey team came back strong against Germany today and went on to draw the match 4-4 in the Volvo Invitational U-21 (Women) Tournament today. India Under-21 Men were defeated (1-3) by Belgium in their 3rd match after two convincing wins against Germany (3-0) and New Zealand (3-0).

After a convincing victory over Germany U-21 by 3-0 in the opening match, India U-21 Men Team won their second match against New Zealand U-21 by 3-0 in the Volvo International U-21 (Men) Tournament played at Breda, The Netherlands. In the women’s competition, Indian team lost to the hosts Netherlands by 0-1 in their opening match.

India Boys beat Germany by 3-0, Girls to face Netherlands

India Under 21 Men Hockey team defeated Germany by 3-0 to start the Volvo Invitational U-21 (Men) Tournament 2015 on a winning note in Breda, Netherlands. Their women counterpart will start the campaign today (19th July) against the hosts Netherlands at 1630 IST with a hope to win and mark a good beginning.
