India to Play for Win against Malaysia in QF #HWL2015

India Men hockey team is geared-up for their Quarter-Final match against Malaysia in the ongoing FINTRO World Hockey League Semi-Final 2015. Quarter-finals are scheduled to be held on 01 July 2015 when Australia, Great Britain and Belgium face challenges from Ireland, Pakistan and France respectively in knock-out stage in Antwerp, Belgium (Full Schedule Here).

India face Dutch Women in #HWL2015 Quarter on Tue 30th June

Entering the quarter-final stage of FINTRO Hockey World League 2015 (Women), team India is all set to take on world number 1 side, The Netherlands in Antwerp, Belgium tomorrow (30th June). In other quarter-finals, Australia will play Italy, New Zealand face Japan and hosts Belgium take on Korea on the same day. (Full Schedule here)

The two teams, India and the Netherlands, have not played with each other lately but the Indian Women Hockey Team is looking forward to carve their plan and emerge victorious against the FIH Ranked # 1 Netherlands this time around.

While, the Dutch team is placed on the top of Pool A and had won all their league matches in the tournament, the Indian eves lost three matches against Belgium, New Zealand and Australia in Pool B and registered only one win against Poland. Ceriello Scored Hat-Trick, As Kookaburras defeat India by 6-2 to Top Pool A #HWL2015 in Antwerp

The Kookaburras have finished on top of Pool A at the FINTRO Hockey World League Semi-Final in Antwerp, Belgium. Riding on Chris Ceriello’s perfomance, Australia defeated India by 6-2 in their last pool match.

Chris Ciriello’s hat-trick underpinned the result in a match that saw Jamie Dwyer find the roof of the net with a superb tomahawk strike from the top of the circle with Aran Zalewski and Kieran Govers also weighing in with goals. Ramandeep Singh and Birendra Lakra scored one each for Gold Medalists of Asian Games 2014.

The result, 6-2 win over India, sets up Kookaburras a must-win quarter final clash against the fourth placed team in Pool B – currently Ireland, who are still to play hosts Belgium today (02:00am AEST, Monday 29 June). India will face third place team in Pool B i.e. Malaysia currently. Anything less than an Irish win will mean they face the Kookaburras in Wednesday’s quarter final. An Irish victory over Belgium would pit the Kookaburras against Malaysia and then, India would face Ireland or Belgium depending on margin of the victory. Continue reading →

Need to be quick to break Australia’ defence: Sardar

With two wins and a draw, the Indian Men Hockey team is going strong in the ongoing FINTRO Hockey World League Semi-Final 2015 in Antwerp, Belgium. India will next face Australia in their last pool match.

While, Australia has won all the three matches that they have played till now and is currently resting at the top of the pool with 9 points, India is seeded at the second position with 7 points, aiming to secure a win in the next match and reach atop the pool table.

India played for a draw against Pakistan yesterday, what came out clearly was their consistent attacks on the opponents D and keeping the Pakistan defence busy for the entire game. Following the completion of the pool phase at the women’s FINTRO Hockey World League Semi-Final 2015 in Antwerp, the line-up for the cross-over quarter-final matches has been confirmed. The top three finishers in the event will not only seal a place at the end of year Hockey World League Final in Argentina but also qualify for the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

Maartje Paumen scored a hat-trick against Italy as the Netherlands finished top of Pool A, with Oranje now facing a quarter-final match-up against India, Pool B’s fourth placed team. With both the sides showcasing much agility packed with on-field skills, India and Australia will be seen contesting a very crucial match tomorrow.

India made an impressive comeback post defeating Poland by 3-1 as they produced a rampant display of stick skills to claim their first win in Pool B of the tournament. The Indian girls started their campaign on a disappointing note by losing a hard fought match against Belgium 0-1.
