Team India for upcoming Hockey World League Semi-Final (Women)

Hockey India today announced the Indian Women Hockey Squad for the upcoming FIH Hockey World League Semi-Final to be played in Antwerp, Belgium from 20 June to 04 July 2015. India is placed in Pool B along with the FIH Ranked #2 Australia, FIH Ranked #4 New Zealand, Poland and hosts Belgium. In Pool A, FIH Ranked #1 The Netherlands, FIH Ranked #9 Korea, FIH Ranked #10 Japan, Italy and Azerbaijan will contest against each–other.

Hockey India has announced the Indian Men Team for FIH Hockey World League Semi- Final to be played in Belgium from 20th June to 5th July 2015. The League featuring ten teams is divided in Pool A and Pool B. India is placed in Pool A along with France, Poland, Pakistan and Australia whereas China, Ireland, Malaysia, Great Britain and Belgium are sited in Pool B.

The 18-member squad will be captained by the very proficient midfielder Sardar Singh who has to his credit of 216 International caps. He will be supported by Vice-Captain PR Sreejesh. Chandigarh won the Sub-Junior Men Hockey Nationals 2015 (B-Division) in Jammu

Chandigarh Olympic Association have won the 5th Sub Junior National Hockey Championship 2015 (Men) ‘B’ Division concluded today in Jammu (Jammu & Kashmir). The team from Chandigarh defeated Hockey Patiala by 6-4 in the final to win the title.

Hockey Madhya Pradesh secured the third position after a tough fight against Dadra & Nagar Haveli Hockey Association in the Bronze Medal match. Defence is the Strength: Mathias Ahrens, Chief Coach Indian Women Hockey Team

With the Hockey World League Semi Final to be held in Antwerp, Belgium from June 20 to July 5, the Indian Women hockey team is training hard under the new Chief Coach Mathias Ahrens.

Ranked 13th in the world, Indian eves will face world best teams in the Antwerp leg of Hockey World League (HWL) Semi Final which will be first assignment of Mathias Ahrens as chief coach of Indian Women Hockey team. India are placed in a tough Pool B along with Australia, New Zealand, hosts Belgium (12) and Poland (23) while Pool A consists of Netherlands, Korea, Japan, Italy and Azerbaijan.

Haryana won the 5th Jr Women Nationals 2015 A’-Division, Punjab finished 3rd

Hockey Haryana girls outplayed Hockey Jharkhand by 6-1 to win the 5th Junior National Hockey Championship 2015 (Women) ‘’A’’ Division ended today Rajnandgaon (Chhattisgarh). Whereas, Hockey Punjab pulled down Hockey Odisha with huge margin 7-1 to win the Bronze Medal.

In the Finale clash between Hockey Haryana and Hockey Jharkhand, Hockey Haryana thrashed Hockey Jharkhand with 6-1 and clinched the title of 5th Junior National Hockey Championship 2015 (Women) ‘’A’’ Division. Hockey Haryana showcased confidence from the initial minutes of the game itself scoring their first early goal in the 2nd minute when Manjeet converted a beautiful penalty corner for the team. Very soon in the 9th minute another goal was added to the kitty of Hockey Haryana when Neha struck a field goal into the net. Hockey Jharkhand made continuous efforts to score their first goal, however in the 32nd minute it was yet again Hockey Haryana who bagged another field goal coming from the stick of Saroj. With an excellent performance Hockey Haryana was leading with 3-0 by the end of the first half. With high spirits, Hockey Haryana continued with their admirable team work and added another field goal to their scorecard when Jyoti Gupta in the 44th minute smashed a field goal in support of the team. It was in the 54th minute that Hockey Jharkhand managed to score when Pramila Soren converted a penalty corner for the team. With two more field goals in the 63rd and 65th minute scored by Devika Sen, Hockey Haryana clinched the title defeating Hockey Jharkhand with leading score 6-1. Continue reading →

India beat Japan by 4-0 to stay unbeaten in 4 match #INDvJAP series at Bhubaneswar

The hosts India continued to improve throughout the series and finished the campaign with yet another win over visitors Japan in Bhubaneswar. After being held for 1-1 draw in first match, India won rest of the three matches to win the series by 3-0. As India won the 2nd match by 2-0 and 3rd by 2-1, they scored 9 goals in 4 matches and conceded only 2 in the 4 match series was live telecast by DD Sports.

With the series already in their name, India played to add another win to their name while Japan looked at ending the series with one win in their name. It was finally India who stamped its dominance as they went on to win the match 4-0 and claiming the series 3-0.
