New Delhi, 2 November 2014: National Aluminium Company Limited (NALCO), a Navratna company, has decided to come on board as an Associate Sponsors for the upcoming Hero Hockey Champions Trophy 2014.
The Hero Hockey Champions Trophy 2014 is scheduled to be held at Kalinga Stadium in Bhubaneswar from 6 December till 14 December 2014, returning back to its biennial format after the introduction of Hockey World League.
Speaking on the occasion, Ansuman Das, CMD, NALCO said, “Hockey is one of the most popular sports in India and by associating with the Hero Hockey Champions Trophy 2014, we would like to show our strong support to this sport. We have been promoting various sports and this association will inspire people and young kids to play the speedy game. NALCO takes pride to be an Associate Sponsor of the Hero Hockey Champions Trophy 2014.”
Speaking on the announcement, Hockey India CEO Elena Norman said, “The joining of National Aluminium Company Limited as Associate Sponsor for the Hero Hockey Champions Trophy 2014 shows that there are corporate houses, who are willing to support and promote hockey in India. NALCO, who has been promoting various sports wish to see hockey growing in all parts of the country. In eight-team and nine-day event, World Cup and defending champions, Australia; Commonwealth Games bronze medalists, England; Euro nations silver medalists, Belgium and Asian Games silver medalists, Pakistan are grouped in Pool A. While in Pool B, hosts and Asian Games champions India, will face World Cup 2014 bronze medalists, Argentina; World Cup 2014 runners-up, the Netherlands and 2012 Olympic gold medalists, Germany in league stage of the followed to decide the quarter-final fixtures.
