It is India vs Pakistan in Final at Incheon 2014 Asian Games

Nail-biting semi-finals at the Incheon to set dream final between the neighbouring arch-rivals India and Pakistan in the 17th Asian Games 2014.

Indian men’s Hockey team edged past Korea 1-0, while Pakistan could managed to win against Malaysia in penalty shoot-out by 6-5 on sudden death at the Soenhak Hockey Stadium to reach a win away from Gold medal at Asian Games and a shot at qualification for Rio 2016 Olympics. Only the winner of Asian Games will qualify for the Rio 2016.

In the match between Malaysia and Pakistan, nothing could separate two teams in regulation time as it finished without a goal from anyside. Korea defeated Indian eves to Set-up summit clash against China

The hosts Korea have set-up the summit clash against defending champions China at the 17th Asian Games 2014. Korea defeated India by 3-1, while China overcame Japan’s stiff defence as they converted only shot on the goal Seonhak Hockey Stadium in Incheon today.

In a match which saw only shot a goal on the goal, China edged past Japan with just three minutes to final hooter. Both the teams attacked relentlessly but failed to pull the trigger. In the dying minutes of match, China earned a penalty corner and WANG Mengyu made full use of it to take her team to final.

In the first quarter, Korea scored the opener within three minutes of the match when Kim Darae hit-out a strong reverse beating Indian goal-keeper Savita and sent the ball into the net. Indian Women’s team ready to face hosts Korea in Asian Games 2014

Indian Women Hockey Team is ready to take on the hosts South Korea in the semi-final of the 17th Asian Games 2014 to be played on 29th September 2014 at Soenhak Hockey Stadium in Incheon, while China will play Japan in other semi-final match.

India is all geared-up to repeat the success of the 2006 Asian Games in Doha when they outplayed South Korea 1-0 for the third position and won the Bronze medal. India face Korea, Malaysia play Pakistan in Men’s Semis at 2014 Asian Games

In the last league match of Pool B played today at Seonhak Hockey Stadium in Incheon, South Korea, the Indian Men Hockey team defeated China 2-0 to set up semi final match against the hosts. In the other semi-final of 17th Asian Games 2014 Malaysia will face the defending champions Pakistan.

 The Indian team displayed an exceptional level of game and edged out China, storming into the semi-finals thus keeping the hopes of a Gold medal for India alive, while Malaysia defeated Japan 4-1 to ensure their place in medal round.

Pakistan and Korea continued their winning streak with 8-0 and 7-0 wins against lowly Oman and Bangladesh to finish at the top of points table in their respective pools.

India vs Korea and China vs Japan in Women’s Semis at Asian Games 2014

Indian Women Team sealed an impressive 6-1 victory against Malaysia in the last league match of Pool A and booked a semi-final berth in the 17th Asian Games 2014, played at Seonhak Hockey Stadium in Incheon, South Korea today.

India will play the hosts Korea in Semi Final on Monday, 29th September at 1530 IST, while China will take on Japan in other Semi Final at 1300 IST on the same for a place in final. Korea rounded up their pool stage unbeaten as they defeated Hong Kong 8-0 to top Pool B, while China defeated Thailand 5-0 to finish first in Pool A. Japan defeated Hong Kong 8-0 to set up semi final against defending champions China.

Indian eves displayed a marvellous game and dominated the match by scoring goals in regular intervals. Forward Rani Rampal and defender Jaspreet Kaur scored two goals each to take their team to the semis. Continue reading →

Pakistan edge past India to Top Pool B, Women face Malaysia in Crucial Match

The high-voltage clash between India and Pakistan saw a neck-to-neck fight till the last minute of the Pool B match in the 17th Asian Games 2014. Playing as per the expectations, both the teams displayed enormous amounts of strength and skills at Seonhak Hockey Stadium in Incheon today.

Korea defeated Malaysia 2-1 to confirm their place in Semi Finals from Pool A to join Pakistan from Pool B in semis, while Japan beat Singapore 13-0 to stay in race for semis. In the other match of Pool B, Oman overcame Sri Lanka 3-1.

Both India and Pakistan showcased extreme attack and powerful defence, restricted each other from opening the goal account in the first two quarters of the game. Due to a tight game play between the two teams till 37th minute of the game, it was Pakistan who managed the first breakthrough in the 38th minute when Muhammad Umar Bhutta sneaked in a field goal and opened the account for his team.
