On Dhyan Chand Birthday: International Hockey Stadium inaugurated in Raipur, Chhattisgarh

The newly constructed International Hockey Stadium with a blue artificial turf in Raipur, Chhattisgarh was inaugurated on the occasion of the 109th birth anniversary of the late Major Dhyan Chand and National Sports Day.

The stadium with a capacity of 4000 spectators was inaugurated by the Speaker of Chhattisgarh Legislative Assembly, Hon’ble Gauri Shankar Agarwal. Ramesh Bais, Member of Parliament was also present at the occasion. This is the second International Hockey Stadium with a blue astroturf inaugurated in the state after the International Hockey Stadium in Rajnandgaon which was inaugurated earlier this year. Women Prepare for Asian Games at NIS, Men to play exhibition match in Raipur

The Indian Senior Women core probables are busy in preparing for the 17th Asian Games at the NIS Patiala, while Men’s core probables will play at India ‘A’ vs India ‘B’ exhibition on the occasion of the birth anniversary of the late Major Dhyanchand and National Sports Day on 29th August 2014.

The exhibition match will also mark the celebration of new International Hockey Stadium in Raipur, which will be inaugurated the Hon’ble Chief Minister of Chhattisgarh, Dr. Raman Singh and Speaker of Chhattisgarh Legislative Assembly, Hon’ble Gauri Shankar Agarwal  to be held at Incheon, South Korea from 19th September 2014. SAI released Rs.11.27 crore to Hockey India during 2014-15 against allocated budget of Rs. 10.5 crore

After reports appeared in a section of media about Sports Authority of India (SAI) not clearing the National Junior Women’s Hockey Camp proposed to be conducted in Bhopal from 19th August, 2014 to 30th September, 2014, Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports clarified the situation through a press release.

Hockey India LogoAccording to press release, Hockey India was allocated a budget of Rs. 10.50 crore for its Annual Calendar of Training and Competitions for 2014-2015. Hockey India was required to determine its priorities for competitions and training within this budget. They took lead by scoring a goal in the first quarter but lost their tempo afterward amid lack of combination among their forwards who failed to make any move. India makes it perfect 3-0 with 3-1 win over Bangladesh in Dhaka

The Indian Men Hockey development team registered their third consecutive victory over Bangladesh to win the three-match series by 3-0. Team India continued their winning spree and defeated the host nation by 3-1 in the last match played at Dhaka today.

The positives from the series could be seen as the experience for some of the young players and a good starting for the coaching career of Tushar Khandker, while it was pleasing to see Arjun Halappa in supportive role and Harendra Singh also accompanying the team to Dhaka.

After winning first two matches by 2-1 and 5-1 India started the match with their attacking game and scored their first goal in 6th minute through forward Yuvraj Walmiki.
