26 March 2014: Services Sports Promotion Board continued their winning spree as they won 3rd consecutive match while many other teams registered their 1st wins on day-3 of the 4th Hockey India Junior Men National Championship 2014 (Division B) being played at Mayor Radhakrishnan Stadium Egmore and YMCA Stadium in Chennai.

In a Pool C match, Services Sports Control Board showered a total of 10 goals from the very 5th minute of the game till the 67th minute as Goa stood tranquilized and witnessed the destruction. The opening goal for the Services Sports Control Board came from Jitender in the 5th minute of the game itself. The destruction was channeled further with Navpreet Singh scoring three goals in the 7th, 17th and 67th minute followed by another three through Ramandeep in the 21st, 37th and 59th minute of the game. The end of the match saw Services Sports Control Board’s astounding 10-0 victory over Goa.

In Pool A match, Steel Plant Sports Board pulled down the high flying Hockey Gangpur-Odisha and stopped them from registering their third win in a row, alternatively registering their own second consecutive win in the Championship. Steel Plant Sports Board gained the control of the match in the first half itself when Janma Majhi penetrated two field goals within a span of three minutes in the 28th and the 30th minute of the game, taking a much need 2-0 lead till the half time. Another goal from Sanjiv Ekka of Steel Plant Sports Board helped the team take the lead further ahead to 3-0. A field goal and a penalty corner from Hockey Gangpur-Odisha’s Sudeep Kerketta and Dilip Lakra, respectively helped the team in bringing down the goal margin but ultimately failed to change the fate and lost the game to Steel Plant Sports Board by 5-2.

In another Pool A match of the day, Puducherry stormed past Uttarakhand and registered their first win with an astonishing 10-1 on board. Team Puducherry went all out from the first half itself when P Arun Kumar sliced in a field goal in the very 2nd minute of the game. P Arun Kumar became the highest scorer of the match as he penetrated a total of four goals followed by V. Veerathaminzhan with three goals to his credit in the 40th, 46th and 58th minute. The only goal to Uttrakhand’s credit came through Vikas Joshi in the 28th minute which was only good enough to open Uttrakhand’s account in the game.

In another Pool C match, Assam overcame their yesterday’s mistakes made against Services Sports Control Board and used it to their benefit against Kerala today as they defeated the latter 6-3. Though the first two goals of the game came through Kerala’s Swaraj T S and Visakh A S in the 20th and the 30th minute, respectively, the third goal in the first half came as a challenging reply in the 31st minute through Assam’s Sreerang P K T. Assam made a dominating comeback in the second half of the game as they carved in five goals on after the other whereas Kerala could only manage to pierce in one goal in the 56th minute through Geo George. Niranjan Boro of Assam became the top scorer of the match with a total of three goals to his credit.

In another match Andhra Pradesh taking on Gujarat won the match with 6 goal to 0. Andra Pradesh started the match with great speed and momentum and within 2minutes the 1st field goal was scored by Chandar Shekhar. It was then ImranKhan in the 23rd minute who scored the 2nd goal for the team and the 3rd goal coming in the 29th minute by Ram Krishan. Going into the break Andhra Pradesh was leading the game 3 goals to 0. In the second half Ram Krishan went on to score the 4th goal in the 55th minute. The team added another 2 goals in the 67th and 69th minute and went on to win with a good margin.

Pool B – Andhra Pradesh 6 Ram Krishan (29 and 55 min), Chandar Shekar (2 min), Imran Kahan (23 min), Naveen Payani (67 min) and Naresh (69 min) Vs. Gujarat 0.
