14 March 2014: On the 2nd day of the 4th Hockey India Senior Women National Championship (A-Division), Vidarbha Hockey Association rain 11 goals on team Goa in Pool A, while Himachal Pradesh crushed Jammu & Kashmir 12-0, Rajasthan beat Puducherry 6-0 and Assam edged past Bengal 1-0.
After Captain Roshni Kupale scored the first goal for her team, Vidarbha Hockey Association, in the 16th minute it was Sarika Malkhede who scored a hat-trick goal. While 2 goals came before the end of 1st half right after the start of 2nd half she scored her third goal for her team.
Post that it was Sarita Malkhede who went on to score a hat-trick goal which she delivered within 6 minutes and came in the 43rd, 47th and 48th minute. After that it was again Sarika Malkhede who added another 2 goals to tally in the 53rd and 62nd minute. This helped Vidarbha Hockey Association take an easy win over Goa.
In the second match of Pool A for the day in a keenly contested match between Assam and Bengal Hockey Association it was Assam who finally hit the lone goal in the 64th minute of the game helping them win the match. The goal was scored by Saroj Singh who scored it through a field Goal which she pounded past the Goal Keeper who did not stand a chance to stop the ball. The match started with both the teams keeping in the attack on each other but each team’s defence was as strong as the other because if which both the teams could not convert the chances they got.
In yet another match between Himachal Pradesh and Jammu & Kashmir in Pool B the former won the match with 12 goals to 0. Himachal Pradesh went on the attack from the very first minute of the match and Jammu & Kashmir with a weak defence could not stop the Himachal Pradesh from scoring the 1st goal in the 8th minute. They went on to score 2 back to back goals in the 19th and 20th minute taking the lead to 3-0. Before the end of the first half Himachal Pradesh was leading the match 5-0.
The second half was no different for both the teams with Himachal Pradesh continuing its goal scoring efforts and added another 7 goals in the second half. It was Ravita Chauhan who thrashed 3 goals in the 2nd session alongwith Dimple who scored 2 goals helping the team win over the opponents with a huge margin.
In Pool C, Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh resulted in a draw with both the teams unable to score a single goal in the entire 70 minutes.
In the last match of the day, it was Rajasthan who beat Puducherry 6-0 in Pool D. It was the captain Manisha Sharma who led from the front and scored 4 goals for the team out of which was a hat-trick goal. Rajasthan proved to be the stronger team today which Puducherry found it difficult to stop.
