12 March 2014: Chhattisgarh and Kerala stormed into the finals of 4th Hockey India Junior Women National Championship 2014 (Division B) being played at the Chamundi Vihar Hockey Ground.

In the first semi finals, Chhattisgarh defeated Manipur by 4 -0. Chhattisgarh’s Ishika Chaudhary scored the 1st goal for the team in the 8th minute of the game backed by Priyanka Parihar in the 34th minute by converting a penalty corner opportunity.  By the end of the 1st half of the game Chhattisgarh took the lead over Manipur by 2 -0.

In the second half of the game Akanksha Parmar and Sadhna Sengar scored 1 field goal each in the 38th and 65th minute respectively to complete the final scoreline.

Chhattisgarh team relentlessly attacked on the goal post of Manipur team. But on the other end, Manipur though defended well were not able to generate a better momentum in the frontline and failed to pressurise the opponents. Manipur tried hard to get into the game but Chhattisgarh played extremely well and did not let Manipur score a single goal till the end of the match and won the semi finals by 4 -0.

Inder Pal Singh, coach of Chhattisgarh team said, “We played according to our plan yet most of the times we missed to convert goals though we attacked the opponents. We are confident that we will come strongly on Kerala.  Kerala team is also strong and we will consider them seriously.”

In the 2nd semi finals, Kerala gave a shocker to Gangpur Odisha and won the game by 2-0. In the first half both the teams defended well against each other but in the 26th minute of the game Sindhu. M.R scored the 1st goal for the team on an open field attempt and earned a 1-0 lead over Gangapur Odisha, which they kept intact till the lemon break.

In the second half, both the teams played well and did not let each other score any goal till the 67th minute. In the 68th minute Amala Thomas scored a sensational goal to double the lead for her team and take the game away from debutants Gangpur.

Semi Finals 1 -Chhattisgarh 4: Ishika Chaudhary (8 min); Priyanka Parihar (34 min); Akanksha Parmar (38); Sadhna Sengar (65 min) vs Manipur 0.

Semi Finals 2- Kerala 2: Sindhu M R (26 min); Amala Thomas (68 min) vs Hockey Gangpur-Odisha 0

Finals – Chhattisgarh vs Kerala at 1600 hrs
