March 30, 2014: Steel Plant Sports Board and Manipur will face each other in the Finals of the 4th Hockey India Junior Men National Championship 2014 (Division B) in Chennai. Steel Plant Sports Board defeated Services Sports Control Board 3-2 in the first semi final, while Manipur edged past Bengal by 3-2 in shoot-out after finishing at 2-2 in stipulated time.
In the super exiting match both the teams, Steel Plant Sports Board and Services Sports Control Board, showcased their strengths and defended very well in the first half. Naveen Minz scored the first goal for the Services Sports Control Board in the 22nd minute of the game and took the lead of 1-0 for the team. Soon in the 27th minute Janma Majhi of Steel Plant Sports Board levelled the score though a field goal. Both the teams gave tough fight to each other and scored 1 goal each till the half time. 29 March 2014: Hockey India today held its 22nd Executive Board meeting at Holiday Inn Hotel in New Delhi. Some major decisions were taken in the meeting along with routine matters of the Federation.
With the aim of promoting hockey as a sport across the world, Hockey India took a strategic decision to provide aid to Afghanistan Hockey Federation, as Afghanistan Hockey Federation had requested for aid in a communiqué received early this month. 27 March 2014: On the day-4 of the 4th Hockey India Junior Men National Championship 2014 (Division B) being played at M R Stadium Egmore and YMCA Stadium in Chennai, Services Sports Promotion Board, Steel Plant Sports Board and Manipur booked their places in semi-finals to be played this weekend.

26 March 2014: Services Sports Promotion Board continued their winning spree as they won 3rd consecutive match while many other teams registered their 1st wins on day-3 of the 4th Hockey India Junior Men National Championship 2014 (Division B) being played at Mayor Radhakrishnan Stadium Egmore and YMCA Stadium in Chennai.

In a Pool C match, Services Sports Control Board showered a total of 10 goals from the very 5th minute of the game till the 67th minute as Goa stood tranquilized and witnessed the destruction. The opening goal for the Services Sports Control Board came from Jitender in the 5th minute of the game itself. The destruction was channeled further with Navpreet Singh scoring three goals in the 7th, 17th and 67th minute followed by another three through Ramandeep in the 21st, 37th and 59th minute of the game. 26th March 2014: Double Olympian Jude Felix has been appointed as Coach of the Senior Men National Hockey Team of India. He will work under Chief Coach Terry Walsh.

Jude will join the training camp of the senior men hockey team on 27 March 2014 at Major Dhyan Chand National Stadium in Delhi for preparations of the FIH Men’s World Cup 2014 to be held at The Hague, Netherlands from 31 May – 15 June 2014. He is appointed on a probationary period of three months with the senior men hockey team.
Speaking on the appointment Jude Felix, Coach, Senior Men National Hockey Team said, “I am coming with the vast years of my playing and coaching experience at different levels. I am confident that I will be able to make a contribution to players individually and team as a whole. Working with two great coaches in Roelant Oltmans and Terry Walsh, I am looking forward to learning from them and passing on the knowledge to as many coaches as possible in India”. Continue reading →
