RDT Anantapur Retained JFHA Inter-School Hockey Tournament Title

Bangalore, 10 Nov, 2013: RDT High School for Inclusive Education, Anantapur successfully defended their title of JFHA Inter-School Hockey Tournament by defeating Sports School Kudige in the final of Dreamworld India – JFHA Inter-School Hockey Tournament 2013 by 3-2 played tonight here at KSHA Hockey Stadium under floodlights.

In the final match, Siva of RDT, scored in 3rd minute to take early lead which lasted till the half time. The Sports School Kudige came back in the game quickly after the change of ends and scored an early goal in 2nd half to equalize. The equalizing goal came through Carriappa MB, when he scored off a penalty corner in very first minute of 2nd half.

Siva scored twice in 2nd half in the 19th (PC) and 22nd minutes of minute to make things difficult for Kudige. Though, Hanumesh found the net in 26th minute on a PC, but it was too little and too late for the Kudige hostelers. In third place match Rashtriya Military School defeated St Paul’s HS School, Chennai by 7 – 0.

Outstanding Forward: Siva B (RDT) received a composite hockey stick sponsored by Tushar Khandekar (Indian Hockey Forward and London Olympian)

5th: Maria Niketan School, Bangalore

After a world-class 2nd edition of the school hockey tournament; the third edition i.e. Dreamworld India – JFHA Inter-School Hockey Tournament 2013, was a step ahead than its predecessors. Rare sites in Indian-Hockey such as hockey action under flood lights, Kookaburra balls in use, doctors/physios & ambulance on the sidelines, a creative and huge scoreboard, DJ playing music after every goal, a band performing during break, guests being escorted by marching Jawans, Celebrities to present the Man of the Match after every game in front of a checkered flag, firecrackers in closing ceremony and the National Anthem sung in chorus by everyone present, etc. were witnessed in the four days long tournament.

A lot more people from different walks of life including working professionals, sports and cinema stars, politicians, social workers, etc were seen during the tournament in various capacities such as guests of honor to volunteers.

The tournament was inaugurated by Most Rev. Dr. Bernard Moras, Archbishop of Bangalore, while the MLA of Shantinagar NA Haris, HN Girisha (Silver Medalists of London Paralympics), Rajan (Former Indian International Basketball Player) were among the dignitaries who graced the closing and prize distribution ceremony along with Hockey Stars.

JFHA with its vision and focus to reach out sports to all sectors of the society has partnered with “CHAMPION IN ME – RED RIBBON REVOLUTION“ taking the lead to be the global voice for children and youth living with HIV/AIDS and the third edition of the tournament was played in aid to create awareness and spread the message to eradicate stigma and discrimination among children and youth living with HIV/AIDS and bring them to the mainstream.
