After 2 editions of trend-setting and world-class hockey tournament for school kids, the 3rd edition of the JFHA Inter-School Hockey Tournament is all set to start on 7th November.

Dreamworld India will be the title sponsor of the 2013 edition of the tournament which will be played under floodlights at the KSHA Hockey Stadium, Langford Town, Bangalore. Dreamworld India – JFHA Inter-School Hockey Tournament 2013, is co-sponsored by Maths Creation Centre, in association with MJ Maths.

JFHA with its vision and focus to reach out sports to all sectors of the society has partnered with “CHAMPION IN ME – RED RIBBON REVOLUTION“ taking the lead to be the Global voice for children and youth living with HIV/AIDS and the Dreamworld India – JFHA Inter-School Hockey tournament will played in aid to create awareness and spread the message to eradicate stigma and discrimination among children and youth living with HIV/AIDS and bring them to the mainstream.

JFHA introduced hockey to the kids from Senha Care (home away from home’ for the HIV infected children) at a press conference-cum-gathering, which was attended by RED RIBBON REVOLUTION Ambassdors Prachi Mishra (Femina Miss India Earth 2012), Teena Ponappa (Actress and Model) and Reeth Abraham (International Athlete) along with BNS Reddy (Deputy Commissioner of Police) and Samba (State manager, Karnataka – Maths Creation Centre).

Jude Felix Sebastian (Founder & Trustee – JFHA) said while addressing the media during an hour long event, “What makes this tournament even more special is the fact that young players will play to create awareness about the Red Ribbon Revolution”.

“Importance of having a strong organizing committee with dedication, commitment & passion which helps in conducting a professional and a successful tournament”, he said while thanking the JFHA Volunteers’ team.

Samba (State manager, Karnataka – Maths Creation Centre) said “It is an honor for Maths Creation Centre and MJ Maths to be associated with JFHA tournament & next year we want to be associated in a big way”.

Prachi Mishra, Femina Miss India Earth 2012, looked quite impressed with the JFHA activities and said, “It is the 1st initiative to have our national game hockey to be introduced to the under-privileged children empowering them through sports, giving them the opportunity and the right to play a sport.”

Role model of many upcoming athletes, Reeth Abraham, who recently won a Gold and Bronze Medal at World Masters Athletics 2013 in Brazil, said, “Champion in me has evolved over 5 years setting a new bench mark & highlighting sporting fraternity to an outreach project positively impacting lives through sports as a medium of transformation”.

Teena Ponappa (Model and Actress) promised to do whatever she could to support such causes like RED RIBBON REVOLUTION and said, “It is been a great opportunity to have the sport, city & fashion fraternity taking the lead to eradicate stigma & discrimination and getting the HIV positive children & youth to the mainstream. I will do whatever I could do to help these initiatives.”

Deputy Commissioner of Police, BNS Reddy said, “It’s a wonderful initiative from the RRR and JFHA to create a platform to introduce hockey to the children living with HIV/AIDS & making Bangalore a stigma free city in the world”.
“If at least one player from the JFHA makes it to the Indian team it’s like a dream fulfilled.”, he also while wishing JFHA good luck for the tournament and future endeavors.

The JFHA players, who are from St. Mary’s Orphanage, Cooke town, Bangalore, will represent their school team Maria Niketan School, Bengaluru. Apart from host team Maria Niketan, two other teams from Bangalore i.e Rashtriya Military School and Bishop Cottons High School will compete in the 6 six team tournament. The Dreamworld India – JFHA Inter-School Hockey Tournament 2013 line-up also includes three out-station teams, i) RDT High School for Inclusive Education, Anantapur (Defending Champions); ii) Sports School, Kudige and iii) St Paul’s Higher Secondary School, Chennai.

In the round robin league stage all six teams will play each others in first three days of the tournament and league stage standing will decide the fixtures for classification matches e.g. top two teams will play in the finals .

Indian International Players like Arjun Halappa, PR Sreejesh, Tushar Khandekar and Viren Rasquinha, etc. have come forward to sponsor some individual awards such as Best Player, Best Goalkeeper, Most Promising Player, etc and few of them expected to be present during the tournament.
