Cairn India wishes luck to Indian Men’s Hockey Team for Asia Cup 2013

The Indian national Men’s Hockey team visited the headquarters of Cairn India in Gurgaon just before their departure to Ipoh for Asia Cup 2013. The world’s fastest growing energy company and the co-sponsors of the national hockey teams, welcomed a confident Indian contingent and wished them luck for this all important tournament.

9th Men’s Asia Cup 2013, which to be held from August 24 to September 1, 2013 in Malaysia (Schedule Here), crucial for India as it is last chance for Indian Men’s team to book the place in 2014 Hockey World Cup in the Hague, Netherlands. Sushila Chanu and Rani Rampal (the Captain & Vice Captain of Junior Women’s Hockey team) also accompanied the men’s team.

Cairn employees also congratulated the Captain and Vice Captain of the Indian junior girls team that created history by winning the country’s first ever bronze medal in the ERGO Junior Women’s Hockey World Cup in Germany.

This was the first visit of Indian Hockey contingent to the Cairn India headquarters. Cairn India is associated with Hockey with an aim to provide a positive impetus to the national sport. Earlier this year, Cairn India decided to join forces with the sport with an aim to encourage and popularise the game amongst the younger generation and work with the team management to lift the game to regain the lost glory .

Giving his best wishes to the team prior to their departure for the Asia Cup Tournament, Dr. Sunil Bharati, Head – Corporate Affairs and Communications, Cairn India said, “On behalf of the Cairn India family we wish the Indian Men’s Hockey team the very best for Asia Cup 2013, and we are hopeful that their performance will confirm India’s berth in the world cup next year. Historic wins like the ones our junior girls team achieved, strengthens our passion for the sport. For us it was an emotional moment to host the Indian team and interact with the heroes of this glorious sport.”
