It was Spain who were on target first, when they converted a penalty corner through Xantal Gine in 7th minute, while India responded through Monika within three minutes to restore parity.

With 5 minutes remaining to half time, the Spanish side was ahead once again, this time through field goal from their Captain Berta Bonastre, but India responded to Spain’s goal in fashion, when Navneet Kaur found the target on reverse stick shot to level the scores 2nd time in the match, with just a minute remaining to breather.

After the break, Indian seasoned forwards Vandana Katariya and Rani Rampal (both senior Indian team players) found target once each to take match away from Spain. Vandana scored on a penalty corner in 41st minute and Rani sounded the boarded in 48th with her characteristic strong hit in open play.

India, who played their first ever quarter finals in Junior World Cup, then thwarted the attacks of Spanish side to continue their dream run.
