15 July 2013: Indian Junior Women Hockey Team today departed for Germany to participate in the Ergo Hockey Junior World Cup 2013 (Women) which will be played at the Warsteiner Hockey Park in Mönchengladbach, Germany from 27th July to 4th August 2013.
India, who are placed in Pool-C with New Zealand, Australia and Russia, will open their campaign against Australia on 27 July at 6:00PM IST, followed by their next pool match against New Zealand on 28 July at 6:30 PM IST. India will play their last pool match against Russia on 30 July at 12:30PM (Full Schedule here).
Indian girls, who have senior players like Vandana and Poonam in their forward line lead by Rani (young player of tournament in 2010 World Cup), will have a big challenge in the campaign opener when they take on Jillaroos, who have PC specialist Anna Flanangan (Young Player of the Year for 2012) in their ranks.
Captain Sushila Chanu and her team will have to pull up their shocks and win against either Australian or Kiwi girls to qualify for quarter-finals and stay in top 8 of 16 participating team.
The Indian team, who had a preparatory camp of two months at NIS Patiala, will also be playing four warm-up games ahead of their World Cup campaign. India will play their first warm-up game against Belgium on 17 July followed by Netherlands on 19 July, South Africa on 21 July and Argentina 24 July.
